Dobbs thinks CBS will continue it's defense which is coordinated with others, that the document was false, but the contents are true.
IOW, without the real documents to support her story, all they have is hearsay.
This is my prediction, too--"You can't pick on the nice little old lady"--defense. Dittoes the "it may not be authentic, but it represents what could have happened."
But they didn't find the secretary until today......?
If they put the secretary on the air and try to shift the focus from the documents to her own recollections, will they be able to rekindle the story?
Holy crap. This is hugh! And worrisome. Despite how ridiculous we all know this is, I'm afraid the MSM is going to hit the wall on this story and there is going to be a backlash tomorrow, beginning with this new C-BS defense. The old lady is going to seem more credible than anyone else has so far(dollars to donuts they will continue to deep-six the quotes from Killian's widow and son), and most of the MSM people are, in the end, not going to want to see Dan Rather fired. They may even pick up on C-BS' brazenness and start believing that maybe the story IS true, even if the memos were forged.
[Bill O'Reilly]I mean, how could Dan Rather face his audience FOUR TIMES with the same story if he knows it isn't true or can't prove it? And hey, these bloggers nailed C-BS this time, but maybe next time they will come after US! We have to protect our phony-baloney jobs here![/Bill O'Reilly]
