His left hand should be more towards the middle/upper side of the ball and his right elbow should be be underneath it.

Not at all. If he is getting ready to take a shot, his left hand is too high and too far in front of the ball. He needs to move it around to the side. The left hand is used for guiding the ball, not steadying it.

To be fair, I almost get the impression that he's getting ready to attempt spinning the ball on his finger the way his fingers on his left hand are spread and his right hand being too far under the ball.
