His left hand should be more towards the middle/upper side of the ball and his right elbow should be be underneath it.

Not at all. If he is getting ready to take a shot, his left hand is too high and too far in front of the ball. He needs to move it around to the side. The left hand is used for guiding the ball, not steadying it.

To be fair, I almost get the impression that he's getting ready to attempt spinning the ball on his finger the way his fingers on his left hand are spread and his right hand being too far under the ball.

Signed,
Bassetball Jones

Granted, his form sucks, but you can tell from this photo that he would be a right handed shooter.

Is it just the angle of the camera shot, or does it look like his shot would go waaaaaay left if he actually released from that position?

Actually, I think the boys are trying to show Kerry how to shoot a basketball.

The boy next to him is saying,

"No, Mr. Kerry, that's not how you hold it, it's like..."

At that point Mr. Kerry cuts him off, because afterall, he knows everything, and the photographer, sensing an awkward moment, says,

"Everybody say 'fromage'!"

He is old. Maybe he is just a two-handed shooter?

1. This is a case of taking coals to Newcastle.

2. These kids are too young to vote in the real world under the rules the rest of us live by, but you never know how the Dims recruit their voters.

3. Will we see him next on Martha Stewart making placemats or something?

4. Maybe sKerry can come to my place and teach me how to ride a horse 50 miles!!! NOT!!
