More details should be released from the Quinnipiac Institute.

For perspective, remember that Bush lost the Empire State by 25 points in 2000.

While I am still not convinced that the President can win the state, the closeness of the race should send shockwaves through the Democratic Party.

New York and New Jersey just shouldn't be competitive in September...

That's right. President Bush isn't going to win in NY, but if it forces Kerry to spend a few more dollars and maybe a few visits, then we're doing just fine.

If New York is in play, Kerry is toast.

Close race? A 6 point difference? I don't think so.

I live in the Rotten Apple and will tell you that anyone voting and everyone voting for Kerry is simply because they do not like Bush.

HOWEVER - that bunch is not as big as you think, it is just that each one of these creeps is as vocal as any ten normal people.

The rest of us, mostly normal taxpaying types, are voting for sBush because of the war on terrorism.

Compared to 2000, hell, it's a tight race...

New Jersey might be competitive. But if President Bush wins New York, Kerry will be pulling a Mondale --- only winning Massachusetts and D.C. (and maybe Vermont and Rhode Island).

It's very unlikely to happen.

Well, the President has a 43% approval rating...

If he is to win New York, it would be a plurality, and he would need Nader to keep Kerry at 46% in the polls...

Qunnipiac seems to be quite reputable as well - I was actually polled by them about two months ago and of the 40 questions they asked me only two seemed to be "leading" questions and the polltaker was very professional.

Yeah...while I do have issues with their PA polling, their NY polls seem very accurate...

Bush will not win NY. But he needs to make a minimal effort at campaigning in the state and get the numbers close enough that Kerry and the DNC have to poor money into NY to assure a victory. Same with California. Make Kerry spend money, resources, and most importantly TIME in NY and California.

With all due respect, are you kidding? This is very Hugh & Series! This is New York, Home of the Libs & Dan Rather...

For NY this is quite something.
