Longtime Democratic insider Tony Coelho lashed out at the John Kerry presidential campaign, characterizing it as a campaign in chaos. With yet another appointment of a former Clinton administration staffer to Kerry’s team on Tuesday, Coelho argues the problem is worsening.

Running vitriolic Bush article will look like piling on, so they run a article about what's wrong with the Kerry campaign instead of what's wrong with the nominee.
Yeah, at the time, I told a Democrat friend of mine that his Party was going to rue the day they picked Kerry. He couldn't understand that. I told him that Kerry had too much baggage, but he blew it off. Since then, I happily send him periodic updates on exposure of said baggage. I hope I don't lose friend!
Exactly! How else can one understand his comments but a snipe at his "teammates" for leaving him as one of the only remaining benchwarmers.

I know you're absolutely convinced Kerry's toast. I am not. Nor do I see any value in accepting that course as inevitable. What do we gain from it? Nothing, but plenty of heartache if Kerry does close the gap. If we approach it my way, then we hopefully contribute to either a close Bush win or a Bush landslide (which would probably result in an extra Senate seat or two).
I wish I had kept a log of how many times this year people on FR were convinced that Bush's approval ratings had hit bottom, only to see them go back down again. You have no more knowledge of the future than I do.
Personally, I don't get down when Rasmussen's stupid poll went down, because I've always thought Ras was about 3-4 points low. Moreover, I DO know some things about internal OH strategy, and can tell you that it will get better for Bush, not worse.
Undue optimism is wrong. But undue pessimism sends resources in the wrong direction.

You would certainly think so.
However: It is becoming clearer and clearer since the Clinton days that to the liberals, it is ALL about POWER: - gaining it, holding it, exercising it, and fighting to the death to keep it.
The DNC campaign is just an advertising strategy to convince the sheeple to vote THEIR guy into POWER.
It doesn't matter WHO their nominee is. It doesn't matter WHAT he actually believes, or says to the American people. It is all fluff and spin, an ELECTION MACHINE.
The nominee only has to be someone they think can WIN. They'll take care of what he actually DOES in office later . . .
AND as we are seeing clearly before our eyes, if the selected AD strategy is not working (IE Kerry's campaign being based upon his VN war record) -- then you try something else.
Lying, forging, etc. Well, it is all fair game to them, because their success is GAINING POWER; and the end justifies any and all means they think they can get away with using . . .
I'm very happy that you're privvy to the Ohio campaign's internal workings. That's great. I've never been particularly worried about OH, nor am I now.
BTW, I recall you claiming your 320 EV prediction may have been too optimistic during tough times, just like you're now saying maybe it's too low during good times. Predictions on a forum don't mean much to me, unless there's money on 'em. Since the beginning of the year I've given J F'in K about a 1 in 3 chance of winning (and Howard Dean's chances even less than that). Doesn't mean squat, and I'm not gonna sit around and hope my prophesy comes true.
Oh, let this be so. Let them dig their hole even deeper. Let's drag this on as long as possible.

True. But, ya know what? Todays teens and early college age kids actually seem more conservative than when I was that age (6-10 years ago).
Another way of looking at it is that Clinton, Gore and Kerry don't have any views other than a lust for power, and so they can freely have them manipulated.
This has always puzzled me. Why do people lust for power if they have no clue what they stand for or what they want to do with it? I would only lust for power if I had a program I want to implement.
We could say that the private jet and the glamourous lifestyle might be reason enough to want power, but if Kerry wanted his own private 747 he could afford it on his own without going through all the pain of a campaign.
The best thing I can think of is that Kerry wants to be President purely as an ego trip, and that's really not gonna fly.
It does make me appreciate Bush, who I know governs based on his beliefs. How anyone could pick Kerry over Bush boggles the mind ... and yet I see many Kerry bumper stickers in my neck of the woods (Southern California).

As did Clinton, and they BOTH were inspired by JFKennedy and have been consumed by a life long desire to BE president.
Kerry has especially been adamant about it -- constructing his "resume" very dilligently to the extent of his VN home videos, for crying out loud.
And I think that is why this VN issue will not just go away. Kerry carefully CONSTRUCTED himself as a VN War hero and he will not let it drop. He will not accept that Bush is as good as he is, because Bush was only NG . . . etc.
So massive ego is involved.
You could say it is just power. E.G. with Clinton. He had the power to advance or stop certain agendas. But he would get something in return. perks, more power, PAYBACK NOTES FOR HILLARY etc.
It is not that the liberals are devoid of a worldview that they want to foist upon us. They WILL use the power of the State to implement that worldview. Just look at the Janet Reno regime; pro-lifers and talk-radio hosts were considered to be extremists, terrorists, and enemies of the State . . .
They WILL use the power to implement their eletist worldview. BUT that cannot be their campaign strategy, because 99.9% of it is not what the American people really want.

Good point. Myself, when I read they were bringing in a whole slew of Clinton people over the slew of Kennedy people Ted donated, all I could think of was the all the business section stories I've read over the years about corporate merger problems: clash of culture, jockeying for power, etc., etc., etc.
