Go to Borders and sit in their cafe, drink coffee for three hours (minimal charge with free refills), and read their books for free. That'll serve the lefties right.

And on your way out, buy a fifty cent copy of the local conservative paper.

When I picked up my book on Saturday and walked out of the store with my nose in it, a looney lib yelled at me, "It's all lies!"

And to think, they haven't even read it. Ha!

I had a notion that would happen.

So I've posted their musings here in the thread - three different posts.

Every time we're near a bookstore (we live in the Seattle area) my wife likes to go in and ask them where a specific conservative author's book is (she asks for whatever is hot and current).

They will give her directions and she tells them she looked but couldn't find it.

They then show her where the book is.

Of course then the wife tells them that she just wanted to see how they were selling and walks out. Sometimes she will ice the cake and comment on Hillarys book being on the cheap table or something such.

Talk about angry stares! That's why I love her.

"Unfit For Command" is full of lies. Unfortunately for Democrats, they're all Kerry's.

One very interesting thing that hasn't been discussed much is that, according to that thread on that Borders Union message board, some high level guy in the Borders company (I don't remember his name at the moment) actually had to send out an e-mail to his employees ordering them to avoid any kind of displays of overt political partisanship within the stores.

Should the reference in the original post be changed to ""National Review" print edition 9-27-04"?

Dear visitors from land of blog:

Thank you for your interest in the Borders Union web site. Please be aware that it is not the policy of Borders Books, or of any of the Unions that represent its employees, to "hide" or refuse to sell a book based on political content. Borders management can be expected to take appropriate disciplinary measures if they catch employees interfering with sales.

Some people who post on our bulletin board do not work at Borders. We do not verify employment. According to IP Address records, the person who posted the "let's hide the book" message was also posting under another name, responding to the messages he posted under his first name. Under his second ID, which identified him as a free market conservative, or "Classical Liberal", he said was shocked that Borders employees would not tolerate diversity of opinion, and that the messages (he) posted under his first pseudonym proved that there was a problem. This suggests to us that this was a troll who was trying to manufacture controversy. His account(s) have been deleted. He was a new user. Other, long time users told him his ideas were bad. We are temporarily ending user registration to prevent further incidents of trolling. Accounts created on September 15th have been deactivated.

We have temporarily blocked access to a portion of the site in order to protect our webserver from crashing due to high traffic. Please be patient. The site will return in full when traffic levels ebb.

Since Borders, like many corporations, refuses to pay a Living Wage, Borders local customers have the option of speaking to an underpaid manager if they feel an underpaid floor employee is pursuing an agenda different from the sales agenda of the corporation.

Have a nice day.
Update: 9/17

We're still getting a few thousand visitors a day looking for the thread, so this message will stay up a while longer.

Ya know, I hear tell that 12-15 moth balls in a gas tank really increases the octane level... I also hear that it makes it really hard to shut the engine off once it's been started.
