Headless bodies found in Iraq

Three decapitated bodies were found north of Baghdad today and are believed to be the corpses of foreigners.

The Iraqi police said the bodies, all male, had tattoos on them that appeared to be written in Arabic and Turkish. They said the heads had been strapped to the backs of the bodies, which were dumped in nylon bags.

Members of Iraq's National Guard found the bodies on a roadside near the town of Dujail, 38 miles north of Baghdad, on Wednesday morning and alerted the Iraqi police.

Insurgents in Iraq are currently holding at least four Western hostages - two French journalists and two Italian women aid workers.

Many foreign truck drivers, from neighbouring countries such as Turkey and Jordan, have also gone missing.
