Bush calls Democrats' strategy 'pathetic'

MUSKEGON, Mich. -- President Bush chided Sen. John Kerry and fellow Democrats on Monday for asserting that Republicans will undermine Social Security, calling the strategy ''the most tired, pathetic way to campaign for the presidency.''

Traveling by bus through the southwest corner of this battleground state, Bush tried to improve voters' perceptions of his domestic policies by condemning Democrats for going negative -- even as he held Kerry's plans up to the harshest possible light.

''I'm running against a fellow who has got a massive, complicated blueprint to have our government take over the decision making in health care,'' the president said. ''Not only is his plan going to increase the power of bureaucrats in your life, but he can't pay for it unless he raises your taxes.''

''What would you expect from a senator from Massachusetts?'' Bush said, as a partisan crowd cheered the reference to Kerry's home state and its liberal leanings

Kerry's campaign said that Bush mischaracterized its health care policy and that the president's plans would indeed put Social Security in peril.

Bush made three stops during a six-hour bus tour in Michigan, a state he narrowly lost in 2000, before heading to Colorado on Monday night. Polls show Kerry clinging to a slight lead in Michigan.

Document Experts Say CBS Ignored Memo 'Red Flags'***Two document experts retained by CBS News for the disputed "60 Minutes" story on President Bush's National Guard record said yesterday they had warned the program that the memos involved had significant problems but that their concerns were not heeded.

"What I was finding was a lot of red flags," Emily Will told The Washington Post last night. She said she listed five concerns in an e-mail three days before last Wednesday's broadcast and that in a call to a producer the day before the program, "I repeated all my objections as strongly as I could." Will said she told the producer: "If you air the program on Wednesday, on Thursday you're going to have hundreds of document examiners raising the same questions."

In a separate telephone interview, Linda James said that she told CBS the documents "had problems" and that she had questioned "whether they were produced on a computer."

Asked whether CBS took her concerns seriously, James said: "Evidently not."

The concerns of both women were first reported by ABC News correspondent Brian Ross. A third document consultant, Marcel Matley, told The Post on Monday that although he vouched for the signature of Bush's former squadron commander, the late Lt. Col. Jerry B. Killian, there was "no way" he could authenticate Killian's purported memos because they were copies.

CBS continued to strongly defend the authenticity of the memos, which it used as evidence that Bush received favorable treatment while he was in the Texas Air National Guard………***

Only in the MSM does sticking your fingers in your ears and yelling "la la la I'm not listening la la la" at the top of your lungs qualify as a "strong defense."

LOL

They're so arrogant. They probably believe that they are big enough and smart enough to roll over this criticism.

I know it won't happen, but it would be awfully nice to have CBS's White House press credentials pulled. "I'm so sorry, but we don't allow people who try to pass forged documents in to our building. It makes for embarrassing moments, especially if the police happens to arrive to make an arrest while we're giving a briefing."

''the most tired, pathetic way to campaign for the presidency.''

No, the MOST pathetic way to campaign is by forging documents to undermine a President leading a nation at war. Rathergate is staying alive better than Bergergate, but unless something gets initiated in Justice or the courts, this is going to fade. When and if it does, though, a few more people will be on our side. Old media won't die in a day, but it is dying.

Bush looks fresh and feisty on the campaign trail, and generally seems to be having fun. Kerry looks dour and confused. I love it.

Is there any obligation for the White House to haul AP reporters around with the President? I'd make them arrange and pay their own transportation if they wish to cover President Bush. They are in an active propaganda War against this President's re-election interests.

President Bush chided Sen. John Kerry and fellow Democrats on Monday for asserting that Republicans will undermine Social Security
When Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:
1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary,
2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual incomes into the Program,
3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income tax each year,
4.) That the money the participants put into the independent
"Trust Fund" rather than into the General operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and,
5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to "put away," you may be interested in the following:
Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent "Trust" fund and put it into the General fund so that Congress could spend it?
A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the Democratically-controlled House and Senate.
Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?
A: The Democratic Party.
Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?
A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the "tie-breaking" deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the U.S.
Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?
A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive SSI Social Security payments!
The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it! Then, after doing all this lying and thieving and violation of the Original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away! And the worst part about it is, uninformed citizens believe it!
