D Is for Descendancy [very hard hitting]

The Democrats are no longer the majority party. Is this the year they'll finally admit it?

The Democratic Party is in descendancy. It's not just that John Kerry's campaign is sinking like a stone, or that George W. Bush is turning out to be a resilient politician. The Democratic leadership is in electoral denial, failing to grasp a profound shift among American voters and therefore on the cusp not of winning back control of one of the branches of government, but of handing control over to Republicans for a generation or more.

This denial has been fed by moderate electoral victories, most notably Bill Clinton's eight year control of the White House, Al Gore's popular-vote plurality in 2000, and what turned out to be transient congressional gains in 1996, 1998 and 2000. Democrats still seem to believe they can win back the White House without making any significant modification to their party's policies--that they are the natural majority party just waiting to be given back control.

A broader look, however, reveals a much different electoral landscape. Somewhere during the Carter presidency Americans lost confidence in the ideas of the Democratic Party. Bill Clinton ran and won as a "third way" Democrat in 1992, when it seemed safe not to worry about foreign threats. When he took office, he tried to move the country to the left, raising taxes and rolling out a plan to socialize medicine.

The flaw in Mr. Clinton's belief that the country was ready to swing left again was revealed in the congressional elections two years into his presidency.

"If they would live here peacefully, they will be allowed."

I don't think that is possible. As you can see the problem they present now.

They will always be sneaking around with their politically correct crap.

You are right to ask your question, how can the Democrat party survive its own intellectual incoherence? The resilience of the libs is astonishing.

I am also preoccupied with the situation here in Europe. If viewed globally, our outlook is not so sanguine. Many of my neighbors long for the days of the Soviets as a counterweight to American imperialism. They are smugly vindicated that we are getting a comeuppance in Iraq.

We have barely 50% of America and 20% of Europe thinking our way. If we fumble the ball for even one election cycle in the States, we can hardly expect Europe to stand alone against a rising tide with Churchillian resolution until the New World can again come to the rescue of the Old.

The demographics in America are far from encouraging. Multiply 80 to 90% times the percentages Blacks, gays, Hispanics, unionists, Indians, Jews etc and we have a quarter or more of the electorate which is virtually immune to reason. A huge electoral handicap to overcome. And the demographics are worsening everyday.

So, since we are bound to lose again as soon as the Dems can find another candidate as slick as Clinton, I think we should force ourselves to see the glass as half empty. We should try to figure what it is that motivates this divers mob of interest groups against all probity to so aggressively seek power over you and me. If we can rightly understand them, maybe we can peel some of these groups away and even precipitate a leftist crack-up.

I don't pretend to any special insight but I cannot resist a few observations.

First, I think the great divide between them and us is, baldly stated, the First Commandment, either you place yourself under a Higher Power or you cannot resist playing God. The left has universally succumbed to the temptations of the later role and that choice accounts for its insufferable self-rightesness and eagerness to control everything. Today's example, fox hunting in the motherland. Either you think THE PASSION is good and FARENHEIT 911 is bad or you are in the other camp and the divide is not serendipitous.

Second, armed with this armour of their own divinity, the left finds rationale in anti-racism. This is the first and last justification for every gaucherie the left can muster. We all know it is only a matter of time until Kerry or his supporters play the race card.

Third, if you are God, or at least her prophet, you have a mission to bring the world to salvation. So, at CBS you rewrite the Gospels. Truth in the media or in acedemia becomes a convenience. All of this crystallized with Monica.

Fourth, all this means, if valid, that logic and reason can have no more effect on these people than they would on a victim of dysentery. This is why we sense that leftism is a religion, because it is. But not because it is itself the religion, it is the product of the first decision noted in first above.

Actually its all been described before, its in THE OLD TESTAMENT and you can read all about it - but I suspect you already have and so you understand this rant.
