Breaking News.
Dan Rather (CBS News) announced today that he would put the MemoGate controversy to rest once and for all. Amid accusations of foisting forged documents on the public, documents reportedly authored by Bushs former Guard Cmdr, Colonel Killian, that say the President did not perform honorably as an Air National Guard member, Dan Rather is sticking by his anti-aircraft guns.
In spite of charges that he ignored a plethora document experts who raised red flags, as well as family members of the deceased Colonel Killian, Mr. Rather insists that the documents were thoroughly vetted and that no apologies were planned. In a statement issued last night, Rather said:
We will settle this controversy once and for all. Our source is irrefutable. On this weeks show we will hold a live séance and speak to the colonel directly. He will confirm that he is the source of the documents and is the one who, in fact, helped us to discover where they had been hidden all these years. In an exclusive interview from the grave he will confirm their authenticity.
The memo also states that the séance and interview will be monitored and vetted by the psychic friends network. Madam Lulu will conduct the séance and mediate the interview.
Blame Bush, of course.
I'm very afraid that some company with linotype capability is working on this right now. If these "forged forgeries" show up who would be left to denounce them but a bunch of right-wing lunatics in pajamas?
LOL! He'd rather not say. . .
