I am informed that the head of a CBS affiliate in a large East Coast city is telling viewers who call in that he wants Rather to apologize on 60 Minutes and then resign. This local network official reportedly plans to present the flood of critical emails he has been getting to the network heads in New York.
I suspect this gentleman is not alone.

The apology would be nice but I'd settle for him simply resigning. COURAGE!

Haven't thought to call into my local CBS affiliate and complain about the Blather Bias, but will do so tomorrow.

It seems pretty simple. Jason Blair was fired and eventually the Editor at the NYT resigned. I don't see how Rather can hold on without an all-out revolt.

I've contacted the affiliate in Oklahoma City explaining that while I never watch Rather, I always have watched the local coverage...but could no longer do so - that Rather had tainted their credibility as well as his own.
Got a decent reply, "thank you blah blah...and we'll pass along your comments..."

Our local talk radio station splits their news between CBS and FOX. I've written them asking them to cut out CBS because you can't trust what they say.

Complaints from affiliates and sponsors will be the only way that CBS will do a mea culpa, IMO. Otherwise, I suspect the network will simply try to bluff their way through this affair.
