The time has come for us to take action. Although I am a relative newcomer to Free Republic, I have quickly come to recognize the importance and strength of this great organization.
Yes, Organization. We have a great leader: Jim Robinson. We have a Board of Directors: The Mod's. We have a General Membership: Us.
Our strength is in our numbers, unity, and determination. We talk 24/7 via this great medium, and now the time has come to put this all to good use and flex our Mighty Muscle.

We started this thing and I for one don't take kindly to Dan Rathers casual dismissal of us. So let's put our "money where our mouth is"!
1. BOYCOTT all sponsors of the CBS evening news, and let them know it! (would someone post a list of links to the sponsors on this thread? Thank you.
2. Complain to the FCC, ask for an investigation (need a link here too).
3.Two day protest of CBS: Thursday & Friday, 9/16 & 9/17.
Here's How:
1. Inform the FReepers in your State, and then break it down into cities or CBS broadcast areas. Invite friends and neighbors, local conservative organizations, and other bloggers. Plan to meet at your local CBS affiliate.
2. Prepare signs and designate a spokesperson (got a bullhorn?), GET LOUD!
3. Wear your jammies! Put em on over your long-johns if you have to.
4. Take a day off work. Call a baby-sitter. Drive a long distance if you have to, But Make The Time.
5. Non-protesters: If you can't make the protest in person, jam their faxes and e-mails! Bombard them for two days straight. Overwhelm them for two days straight!!
6. Remember at all times, at all protests, in all faxes and e-mails to exercise proper decorum. NO: foul language, threats (only legal ones), or confrontations. We are afterall, respectable law abiding citizens.
OK? OK? OK?, LET'S GO!

good idea, but for the protest wouldn't a weekend be better more people are off work..tv stations are manned 24/7...
Come on folks...Get into your PJ's and let's take some action that THEY understand. We can do this !!! E-Mails and phone calls can be ignored. I PROMISE that the other networks are just itching to cover a solid protest.
Kick some ideas out for a full scale high impact protest. Clyde has great ideas and he has gotten us started, I have NEVER protested anything before and my blood is boiling to do this.

Clyde, keep me posted on this. Gotta go be a father for a while now. Great suggestion. I had been thinking that taking this action was a good idea for the last couple of days and I am glad you posted this.

On the home page on the side are some chapters in other states (like Arizona and Colorado). But nothing so far for anything local here. Either way I will do something.
