THE LATEST FROM CBS AND ABC [09/14 07:41 PM]
My source familiar with the internal discussions at CBS describes the atmosphere at the network offices tonight as "madness" and "toxic". Apparently a real bunker mentality is setting in; there is reportedly a great deal of anger at ABC for running a scathing report about the memos.
I didn't see the ABC report (the CBS report was so shockingly false I needed smelling salts) , but apparently it was a humdinger. Here's a summary of each network from ABC:
ABC's Brian Ross interviewed the two experts who CBS hired to validate the National Guard documents and reports they ignored concerns they raised prior to the CBS News broadcast. "I did not feel that they wanted to investigate it very deeply," Emily Will told Ross. "I did not authenticate anything and I don't want it to be misunderstood that I did," Linda James told Ross. Ross reports 2 experts told ABC News today that even the most advanced typewriter available in 1972 could not have produced the documents. Ross also reported that Lt. Col. Jerry Killian's secretary says she believes the documents are fake but that they express thoughts Killian believed. In the "Inside Story" on the CBS "Evening News," John Roberts said that CBS "continues to stand by its reporting" on Bush's National Guard records. Roberts derisively said Bush "barely mentioned his service" today while appearing before the Guard association. Roberts closed by saying that Bush's goal is to turn the focus of the debate away from the questions to "those asking them."
The next big question: How do the major papers treat CBS' report tonight? And when do we start to see the first non-conservative editorials and columns ripping the network?
I think that was deliberate on FOX's part. They didn't want the 'right wing crazy's' (us) to be the source of CBS downfall ;-}
Last Thursday I wouldn't have bet that his story had a weeks worth of legs. I think it does now because of ABC. It's a lost week for Kerry and his MSM mouthpieces. They can't show clips of his 'sucessful' campaign when they're running with this.
I think it is disasterous for Kerry and I couldn't be happier. Seven weeks to the election!
Just sitting here with my popcorn watching the sparks between NBC, ABC & CBS.
Chris Core on WMAL in D.C. now discussing whether the SeeB.S. fraud is "Watergate in reverse." Saying for the same reasons we had to learn about Watergate, Rather has to tell his sources.
Shareholder lawsuits anyone? Has anyone filed a complaint with the SEC? Inquiring minds want to know. (I can't, don't have any Viacom stock since the Reagan hatchet job was announced.)
For reference.
Did Dan Rather introduce the piece?
Or just sit quiet?
Dan Rather & the CBSNews Department
Burkett, but he's already a kook, possible criminal charges?
Ben Barnes?
More people in the Richards/Barnes Texas Dem group?
The DNC?
John Forgery Kerry campaign?
> God bless ABC for bird-dogging that pig Rather
> even if they too are biased pukes.
> But the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
LOL, my feelings exactly. Not that I'm about to start watching ABC, but I respect CBS far less...
I think the reason BLATHER is digging in his heels so hard is because he knows it came directly from the DNC and if he blows that, then not only is he toast, but so is his precious pretty party. He has to cover this with his life.
I doubt that.
you know what I think is going on?? I think Dan Rathers daughter is probably the go between of the "source" and her Dad...I truly believe thats why he is not giving an ounce...it will RUIN her.....its already ruined him.....AND I dont belive he is INNOCENT as everyone is trying to say....that he was "taken"....I think he was having orgasms when he got this stuff and almost fainted from JOY getting it ready for broadcasting....
Chris Core also is bringing up Rather's interview with Saddam and how Rather got choked up at the end, saying "This may be the last time we see each other."
Core (non-right wing talk show host on WMAL in D.C.) is saying CBS is a co-conspirator in dirty tricks and Rather and all producers must resign. Imus will be on this again, I'll bet.
Well, yes.
But more people are watching CBS now than ever before..
(Of course, it is to see the latest coverup by Dan rather, then bet on how quick the INternet exposes him, but still ..)
Ratings is ratings.
(The next reality TV show: "Dan Rather'ed get off the Sphere."
That fight might be starting now. The advertisers couldn't help but notice during the conventions that a cable station outdrew all of them, despite obviously being in far fewer houses. Advertising dollars could be impacted here. Further, it dawns on the majors now that they all have a shrinking audience, but they are too stubborn to be balanced. The solution is to try to weed out a weaker network, which happens to be CBS at the moment.
Can't even public figures sue for defamation if they can prove malice and reckless disregard of the truth And certainly the Killian family could sue.
Hadn't heard that about India!
Well, you know FOX knows who we are and probably many there read this forum regularly. I remember a note I posted here several years ago that I got from Tony Snow in response to some topic we were all upset about.
I think they want to keep the story going and don't want to give the Dems us as a reason to trash it. Just MHO
Wash Times had an excellent editorial about it too.
That's both papers in Washington.
"Imus will be on this again, I'll bet"
no way.....I-liar in the Morning is a wrinkled ole liar and such a suck up to the Liberals its is pathetic....Kerry will be on in the morning...do you think for ONE second he'll diss him on it? NOPE....
in my opinion anyways..........Even Bernie has lost his mind on that show.......
