Former secretary says she didn't type memos 04:10 PM CDT on Tuesday, September 14, 2004
By PETE SLOVER / The Dallas Morning News
HOUSTON The former secretary for the Texas Air National Guard colonel who supposedly authored memos critical of President Bushs Guard service said Tuesday that the documents are fake, but that they reflect real documents that once existed.
Marian Carr Knox, who worked from 1956 to 1979 at Ellington Air Force Base in Houston, said she prided herself on meticulous typing, and the memos first disclosed by CBS News last week were not her work.
These are not real, she told The Dallas Morning News after examining copies of the disputed memos for the first time. Theyre not what I typed, and I would have typed them for him.
Mrs. Knox, 86, who spoke with precise recollection about dates, people and events, said she is not a supporter of Mr. Bush, who she deemed unfit for office and selected, not elected.
I remember very vividly when Bush was there and all the yak-yak that was going on about it, she said.

Mrs. Knox, m'am, with all due respect, who ARE you going to vote for, surely you couldn't possibly......and the ONLY other alternative is Dennis Kucinich, maybe????? GGEEEEEESSSHHH!!!!
I know I have a copy of last weeks winning lottery numbers, sure it's a forgery, but I know that I did have the winning ticket at one time.
HA HA! Dan Rather must be cringing....she ALMOST came through for him except for her Vanity regarding the sloppy typing!
LOL....even though she wishes it were true, she won't take credit for shoody work.
She said she did not recall typing the memos reported by CBS News, though she said they accurately reflect the viewpoints of Lt. Col. Killian and documents that would have been in the personal file. Also, she could not say whether the CBS documents corresponded memo for memo with that file.
How is Dan-0 going to explain this one away!
That's cold man, 1o1!!!
As any mechanic will tell you, there's nothing more irritating than Carr Knox.
If the "th" don't fit--
You must acquit.
The technology was available for her to type these memos.
She could have been typing on an IBM Composer or some custom made proportional spacing kerning typewriter.
That "Selected Not Elected" jazz only works if you're willing to go along with the rest of the program.

Sheesh. First Zell Miller, now this broad. No wonder the liberal democrats wrote off the south.
And yet, Killian's wife and son have said he loved Bush.
Remember how Nixon's secretary claimed she erased the 17 minutes from 'the tapes' but then had to contort ridiculously to do so?
This old bat is doing similar rhetorical contortions.
Yes, but the 86 year-old Bush-hating secretary is more credible insofar as the media is concerned.
Even a Texas anti-Bush liberal calls the memos a forgery. That's about as unimpeacheable a refutation of what CBS aired than coming from this secretary. Of course they'll say she's lying. (laughing)
Anyone have a username/password they would be willing to freepmail me?
the "1o1" is a nice touch.
From your Freeper title...can I derive that you are a Univ. of Florida grad that lives in the Metroplex.
I am over her in on the edge of the Cowtown side.
