WASHINGTON - Election Day is several weeks away, but Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites)'s campaign is already considering its fund-raising options should Kerry or President Bush (news - web sites) pursue a recount like the famous Florida ballot dispute in 2000.
The Kerry-Edwards campaign is asking the Federal Election Commission (news - web sites) for guidance on how it could raise money to cover any recount costs, including whether it could use a legal compliance fund it is tapping to pay campaign lawyers and finance other legal and accounting costs. The FEC is expected to rule by the end of the month.

Kerry lays his cards on the table. He'll demand a recount, find out how many more dead people need to vote to put him over the top, and then send MamaT. to buy lots of shovels.
Kerry's dreaming if he thinks he's going to even come close to Bush's votes anywhere.
Where is he planning to recount..?
Vermont?
New York?
California?
Massachusetts?
Won't have to worry about a recount if the margin of victory for Bush is sufficient.
A 50 state recount is going to cost a lot! He better be nice to Tah-RAH-za!
Can you imagine the nightmare of trying to recound California?
Or even just LA?
At this rate, Kerry is going to be contesting the vote in Massachussets and DC to try and win at least one state.
Florida, Arizona, Ohio, Wisconsin for starters...
Not only will it be expensive, it will take forever. By the time they get done, it'll be 2008. ;-D
I think you're right. GOTTA have a landslide for President Bush.
But but but...
I thought the WHOLE COUNTRY hated Bush, and those rascally polls were misleading....
If Kerry can only muster 34% of the vote, his lawyers may have to keep their ambulance chasing network alive.
Vote Harvesting is not new to the Dems. His Dem comrades can tell him all he needs to know. Of course they will need their normal dead people vote, the phony-picked-up on the bus vote, as well as the double registered voters. All of these need to show up to make it close.
Kerry is assuming that the election will be close enough that a recount will make a difference. Given a chance he would recount all 50 states until he got the numbers he wanted. I wonder what will happen if the election overseers who are coming say there where no election problems. I suppose he will whine as is his usual response. This man is such an ass.
Advice to the Republicans.............
Keep an eye on all the absantee ballots post marked "North Vietnam".
How well I know! My son was furious with St. Louis (he lives in the county) during the last election.
It would be NICE if only citizens would only vote once, sigh.
LOL! It'll never work. Too complicated.
Seriously, I have a concern about massive fraud, and this action on Kerry's part just magnifies it.
Arizona is toast, they can cheat 2% not 10%, I also think with Martinez in Florida and a motiviated Panhandle it will be outside the cheating zone. Ohio is ground zero 2004 I believe.
