I think the thing that irritates many of us is how many of the conservative establishment jumped on the Arnie bandwagon even before he declared despite the number true conservatives in the race. We had a chance to put a real conservative in but the powers that be got too excited at the thought of palling around with him.

Can you explain in really non-weapon-expert terms why we needed this gun legal?

There was really no reason to ban it. It's an easily demonized cartridge, though, because it's used by the M2 machine gun carried by virtually all Army vehicles.

There is no functional difference between a .50 BMG, and a .308, or a .223. It's only size.

California is simply not a free state anymore, it's not one that any rational person can live in.

That's like saying I'm thinner than Dom Deluise. Not the greatest of compliments.

This bill is one small piece of the gun-control issue, and gun control is just one issue among many, many important ones.

I'd rather be kicked in the face by a donkey than gored in the back by a RINO. I stand ready to do everything in my power to defeat any amendment that would allow this Kennedy to become eligible for the presidency. Even if you don't care about the firearms, your turn will come. Gov. Schwarzenegger isn't a conservative.

he signed this too!

DOMESTIC PARTNERS:
* Makes it unlawful for insurance companies in California to offer health insurance benefits that do not also cover the domestic partners of gay and lesbian employees. AB2208, authored by Assemblymember Christine Kehoe, D-San Diego, is believed to be the first law of its kind in the nation and also was the first gay rights bill signed by Schwarzenegger.

I know I wanted to vote for McClintock but I listened to Sean Hannity too much and was afraid that Davis would sty in office, so I voted for Arnold to have the lesser of two evils. There are a lot of reasonable people in California I believe, but they are too afraid to speak out, and when they do by vote, it just gets cut down by some judge.

Ok, here is the least gun-expert explanation I can think of...

... think about all the things you were able to do today that were legal. Think about that. What things were you able to do legally today? Now which one of them would you like for some faceless Legislature to make illegal tomorrow? Doesn't matter why they make it illegal. Everything that should be illegal already is, so what's left for them to take from us? Something that is currently legal.

Eventually they will descend upon something that you finally think is really important, and by then, it will be too late. That's why every battle is important.

I'm doing that with Bush this year. We have to clean the party up before '08.

One could even make a case that he isn't even a Republican.

Nonetheless, he is a non-Democrat. In this state, that's real progress with a real impact.

I reject the analogy of being kicked in the front or gored in the back. If it were a valid one, you'd have a good point. But it's not valid, because Schwarzenegger is doing far less damage to this state than any Democratic governor would, and than the last one did. Indeed, he is improving things.

If you choose not to look at the whole picture, fine. But don't pretend that you are.

I'd warn his remaining supporters that they too will soon get it from behind, but I doubt they would take it as a threat!

San Diego was very nice, the couple of times I've visited. San Francisco was... different, in a good way. My uncle's passed away, though, so I don't think I'll be going back soon.

But... I've always had a train ticket out in my pocket when I was in CA.

Hannity is a gutless Northern Lib. He should shut his liberal pie-hole and quit claiming to be a Republican.

If Libs like Hannity and Arnold can't follow the simple and basic precepts of our party...then they should get the hell out.

San Diego was nice to visit, for sure. Hollywood was ok, since I'm a movie buff.

Could live in neither though. It's a complete wasteland for making a living, or having any conservatism.

Surprise, surprise. Once a RINO...but then, Republicans today just love their RINOs.

Could live in neither though.

I could imagine finding work in La Jolla, with all their little labs, but I don't think so. I think I'd go nuts without snow.

You trust a gun-grabbing, pro-abortion, sodomite loving RINO. SLUUUUUUURRRRRRP! That must be the sound of you licking Arnolds jackboot.

Nonetheless, he is a non-Democrat. In this state, that's real progress with a real impact.

That is so pathetically fatalistic. The spirit of Ronald Reagan weeps for you tonight.

Schwarzenegger is doing far less damage to this state than any Democratic governor would,

By doing that kind of damage to conservative ideals as a Republican, he sets a precedent that weakens the party for the rest of the country.

If you choose not to look at the whole picture, fine.

Sadly, what is clear is that you and those like you who hold such low standards for your leaders deserve no better.
