In related news today, the Democratic Candidate for President appeared in a Massachuesetts family court today to formally petition that his name be changed from John Forbes Kerry to Anybody But Bush.

****........It was Kerry's style that bothered people the most, suggesting that the senator may be saddled with
a negative public image similar to the one that plagued Gore in 2000, when many voters saw the vice president
as boring and stiff.

Those interviewed last week said Kerry came across as rich and affected, and seemed to say merely what he
thought people wanted to hear.

Stopped in a parking lot in Herculaneum, Mo., a half-hour south of St. Louis, Tom Nations and his wife
explained why they supported Clinton twice and would back his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, if she ever ran
for president, but won't vote for Kerry.

"I don't want the nation put in the hands of Kerry," said Nations, 50, a manager for a car dent-removal
company. Pressed for why, he paused before adding: "Kerry is just a speechmaking type. He just stands there
and is like, 'Four score ... ,' you know? I don't think he's prepared for what the country is going through."

His wife, Karen, a hairdresser, agreed. "I just want to feel safe and protected," she said. "Kerry, it's like he's
rehearsed in his speeches and guarded with what he says."

Several people said they would vote for the president as "the lesser of two evils."

"I like [Bush] less than I did then," said E. Keith Dean, 78, a Bush supporter in 2000, as he paid his lunch tab
at Jim's Steak and Spaghetti House in Huntington, W.Va.

But the president's criticism of Kerry as an untrustworthy politician seems to have stuck with Dean, a retired
architect: "I do think there's some validity to this, 'You can't trust what he says.' [Kerry] just changes from one
time to another. I don't have any confidence in him."

In the wooded hills of Braxton County, W.Va., where small farms dot the landscape along the Elk River, many
said they considered voting Democratic this time but lack faith in Kerry's ability to handle the country's
problems. Gore defeated Bush by just 190 votes here..........****

> figure out how you check that on the voting ballot.

The collectivist and tribal 3rd party candidates are
probably going to tally higher than average this year.

A slogan of "Anyone But Bush" does not translate to
a vote for Kerry, particularly when Kerry has the
sex appeal of a Russian truck.

This all cannot be welcome news at Kerry-Edwards, Inc.

Quite frankly, Teresa Heinz Kerry bugs the hell out of me.

Has anybody else noticed that John Kerry's numbers started dropping around the same time that they put Teresa out there just prior to the convention. Before that, she mostly stayed in the background. I think she is part of the drag.

I agree, maybe his daughters. Other than that, and his close friends, whoever they might be, I don't know. He's thoroughly self-involved, money-obsessed, and has no substance. My friends all have high standards, are moral, intelligent and fun. They're not perfect, but what friendship is about in part is overlooking flaws because the good stuff is worthwhile. I can't imagine spending an afternoon with Kerry.

It's hard to be friends with a narcissist.

At some point, you have to ask yourself if it's even worth the effort.

NEW! The "From the College Front" Ping List!

PM me to be added!

Let's hope this works - it's my first ping list, so be gentle.

The "From the College Front" Ping List is to receive alerts on new threads from college news publications, mostly Op/Ed, but some news items as well, or, major publications dealing with higher education.

The words "occupier" and "occupation" are getting mixed up here. Bush has said several times that we do in fact occupy Iraq, but also that we didn't go in to occupy them. My problem is still that we invaded Iraq to find WMD, but then when they weren't there we were suddenly there to liberate them. Liberation for the Iraqi's turned in to the soundbite for a failed invasion. The Iraqi's and the US are much safer without old Saddam, but liberation was not the reason for being there in the first place.

Kerry, and a lot of others only voted to give the President the authority to seek allies for the war.

I can understand why some of them voted against the 87 billion. There was no plan for where the money was going, and as it turns out we don't know now where a lot of it went.

Zell miller hurt Bush's chances more than he helped. He reminded me of the crazy old man that used to yell at us for walking in his yard....lol.

I am still, at the moment undecided.....someone please give us someone else to pick from!

Zell Miller woke up the Reagan Dems. Zell Miller has made the point many times that the Democrat Party is no more. It was hijacked by Socialists (Clintons) and every marginalized loony faction you can think of. National security has, in Miller's eyes, taken a back seat to Unions, queers and perverts of every stripe. I believe you, newbie, want someone else to run because you can not nor will not recognize a LEADER when you see one.

All political pondering aside, I would like for all those undecided voters out there to really look at who John Kerry is. Lets not let the sound bytes rule our decision making process this year. http://www.kerryquotes.com/votingrecord.htm
I am not pushing this site, but it was just one of the thousands I got with a quick check on google. If after reading what he has voted for, you can make a compelling argument on what John Kerry stands for and how John Kerry is qualified to lead our country, I am willing to listen. Not like many of my Democratic friends who seem to suffer from ABB (anyone but Bush) disease. How is it that a man who missed 64% of the votes in 2003, says he is qualified to lead this nation in what could be looked on as the most dangerous time in our country's history? We should be able to get off Vietnam and look to who is more qualified to do the job. By the way, this health care reform he is talking about, does anyone realize that if it is put into play the way he would like, it would cost us over 1 TRILLION dollars. Now how does that become a platform to run on???? Anyone, please anyone inform me WHAT THIS MAN STANDS FOR......
