We asked the Prophet about it and he said: "You are not under any obligation not to do it like that."

Please tell me this is a typo.

Do illiterate prophets really speak in double negatives?

We were lusting after women and chastity had become too hard for us, but we wanted to get the ransom money for our prisoners. So we wanted to use the Azl [coitus interruptus]. We asked the Prophet about it and he said: "You are not under any obligation not to do it like that."

Okay, let's try to think this through. If he were to say

You are obliged to not to do it like that
then he would be saying
You are obliged to not engage in coitus interruptus
which would be to say
You are obliged to not not ejaculate
i.e.
You are obliged to ejaculate
So if he says
You are not under any obligation not to do it like that
then he is saying
You are not under any obligation to ejaculate
Does this make sense to anyone?

PS: This is true of the Koran in general - with the exception of the clear and unequivocal instructions to murder the infidel, the document is just utter and complete nonsense.

You read it correctly. Anything not prohibited is permitted. And not much is prohibited when it comes to infidels. So they'll quote to you the rules that apply to dealing with each other. And then knife you in the back when they feel like it.
