This is about the 3rd time I've seen someone say that they are getting paid to Freep - who do I call? How do I get in on this?

Please ping me to that, I am leaving town for a day.

I am sure that he is unaware of all the fakes, frauds and wannabees exposed on FR.

I once had such a list on a hard drive that joined the choir invisible.

Excellent point about CBS not revealing their source of the copies of the FORGED documents, while Mr. knowitallharvardeducatedidiot worries about Buckheads credibility. What a moron.

I think I heard Brit Hume say CBS spent six weeks on this piece of propaganda. It only took about 48 hours to completly demolish it. Brit Hume is certain that the documents are indeed forgeries.

At this point, if this fellow wants to attack someones credibility, he can start with Brit Hume.

And most importantly, if he is going to insist that the CBS documents are not forgeries, then let him show his proof.

Bring it on or shut up.

At this point my personal credibility or lack thereof has absolutely nothing to do with the story.

The documents are fakes, and that has been proven beyond any shadow of a doubt by the foremost experts in digitigal typography, typewriters, military procedures and protocols in the entire world, as well by as every other fact and circumstance surrounding them. So, it doesn't depend on ANYTHING about me.

What's more, it is obvious the forgeries would have been discovered without me by virtue of the process that occurs here day in and day out. The only difference is that this one reached the popular culture so fast it was unbelievable. But that is because it was so freaking obvious. It only takes a few words to say "These documents are forgeries." Everybody can understand it in 15 seconds. That way, the essentials of the story could be in a headline or link, or could be processed by TV journalists' brains without throwing a rod.

I suppose that in the retelling of how it happened it is fun or desirable from a storytelling standpoint to say this or that person was the first to notice it and thus be symbolic of the larger forces. But in my view the real story is (1) FR in particular, (2) the blogosphere in general, and, (3) the final indispensable element - 60 Minutes and Dan Rather's unique combination of asinine stupidity and habitual and tendentious mendacity.

Do they really think they can solve their problem by attacking me? How will that make them less stupid and disincline them to constant lying and manipulation?

You forget the old "kill the messenger" methods employed by the MSM.

By doing the job these people are employed to do, you outed them as fraudulent as the memos they have attempted to foist on the public as evidence against President Bush. You single handedly pointed out the lack of credibility the Main Stream Media (or as some prefer, the Medieval Media)by asking questions an objective old time journalist would have automatically asked.

Living in their own ivy covered echo chambers the MM have forgotten the essentials of journalism: Who, What, When Where and How.

They replaced those questions with: party affiliation? Liberal or *sniff, sniff* conservative? They now resort to questioning the messenger or motives of anyone doubting their veracity or even our right to question them.

Perhaps the Prof will acknowledge that there is also a Left Wing Bastion of Lunacy. Will he?

"It was amazing Thursday to watch the documents story go from FreeRepublic.com, a bastion of right-wing lunacy, to Drudge to the mainstream media in less than 12 hours," said Jim Jordan, a strategist for independent Democratic groups opposed to Bush.

Jimmy, be afraid, be very afraid.

Imagine the stress, frustration, dispondency, irritation and outright hatred that has bottled up inside American Conservatives for so long now, since Eisenhower's Day at least, toward the national MSM, the sham Old Media, for their constant stonewalling, slanting and doing everything they could to promote socialism, a decaying and destroyed American society and outright lies, denying so many of us (outside of talk radio perhaps) neither an equal voice nor fair representation, nor unfettered access to impact American social and political direction the way they do (sorry, "did"!).

Not only are we angry about RatherGate as an individual instance of more Media Lies, but, rather (Dan Rather), it is only the tip of the iceberg which symbolizes great outrage over the last 50 years in countless MILLIONS OF AMERICANS, who until the last four or five years or so, were POWERLESS to respond and fight back.

Now we CAN fight back. And boy, are we ever PISSED.

Have FR posts been archived? The material contained would represent a realtime history for future historians. Many graduate theses in many disciplines will be written about FR
