Rather Says Will No Longer Address Charges of 'Professional Rumor Mill'
September 12, 2004, 21:39:50 EDT Dan Rather was quoted in the New Zealand Herald as saying that there was no use debating the authenticity of his documents which he claims are proof that George W. Bush committed any number of unethical acts while in the National Guard. "Until someone shows me definitive proof that they are not [authentic], I don't see any reason to carry on a conversation with the professional rumour mill."
CBS and Rather HAVE TO BE held accountable for this egregious reporting! If they are not, why should we believe ANYTHING they or ANYONE else reports?
It's not NOT fair to the public or GWB, and it's not fair to the all the CBS REPORTERS who try to hold onto some semblance of credibility. If I was a reporter at CBS I would be severly PO'ed at Rather right now!
I would DEMAND he be held accountable!
Kind of like when he used to go out to the beach and endure rain and 15 mile an hour winds to demonstrate his reporter's courage?
"The folksy, grammar-mangling Bush easily outscores his somewhat stiff Democratic challenger."
Yea, that's the reason why Bush is 'likeable' his grammer is more 'mangling'
Gee, maybe its because Bush acutally says things that make SENSE and not NONSENSE like Kerry
These liberals are truly in a state of massive denial!
Yo Dan-0, if you cannot stand the heat (the pointing out that partisan senility is a settin' in - Big Time), get out of the kitchen (and, please let the door hit your over-sized head).
Perhaps the "powers that be" at CBS (under threat of their FCC license being lifted via public complaint route) will take Bather to the wood shed and (force) him to publicly admit his error and (force) an apology to the American people.
And, off into the sunset he went ...
Maybe Dan is ignoring us now, but you can bet many of his co-workers who watch this spot are having a good giggle.
It must be embarassing for Dan to be seen in public these days.
Oh, no, no bias here: This writer claims the "hoax" was FROM the Bush supporters, and Rather was a victim."
New talking points from the democrats?
"It must be embarassing for Dan to be seen in public these days."
I do not think these guys (liberals) are capable of shame.
Clinton wasn't
Kerry isn't.
They live in their own little insulated world.
Rather thinks that what he says is the news wheather or not he has proof.
I think the case is now up to the widow of the commander to take Dan and the CBS crowd into a Texas state court. I think Dan would be rather surpised how real life court works...and how much you can lose besides money.
Time to hang them up, Dan.
Hmmm.... has the FCC ever received 50,000 compaints over a single issue?
Consider the source.
It's an amazing age, isn't it? Reporters can't hide behind print anonymity anymore, and talking heads get held accountable on the net for every word that comes out of their mouths.
If they haven't figured that out THIS year, by next year they'll know.
If this is all he has left to argue his case, then surely he has conceded defeat.
Sam Donaldson, lol?

Dan Rather - it's time to pay the piper.
THAT would be delicious irony...;-D
