Hey, Dan. I got a hot tip that there's a grocery store down the street that increases its prices before putting items on sale.
Maybe that type of investigative reporting is more your speed.

This is delicious. The staff are simply spinning their wheels. Kerry's going to do whatever he wants to do and to hell with them, which is why he's sinking like a rock.

"We're having a hard time tracking how we got the documents," says the CBS News producer. "There are at least two people in this building who have insisted
we got copies of these memos from the Kerry campaign by way of an additional source. We do not have the originals, and our sources have indicated to us that
we will not be getting the originals. How that is possible I don't know."
Is this unbelievable? Does anyone else have the problems with this statement I do?
"We don't know how we got them? But we may have gotten forged document denigrating Bush from the Kerry Campaign. But we for sure aren't telling you. And we aren't showing the originals, and we aren't getting them."
If this was the republicans, they would be getting torn limb from limb by the MSM.

The level of unique detail in this story makes it seem very credible. I've not been certain that the Prowler has sources for its stories, but this one seems convincing.

Holy cow. If only half of these accounts from inside the Kerry campaign are true, then the wheels are truly coming off. I thought it would come unglued, but not this quickly.

This seems to indicate what I'm begining to suspect is taking shape.
CBS/DNC will scapegoat Burkett. The DNC and Kerry campaign were clearly involved, and Burkett will be used to divert attention away.

"There are rumors here that if there are any real documents, they are hand-written notes from Killian that someone like Burkett was holding, and that instead of using the hand-written notes, someone typed them up to look more official," says the CBS News producer. "They would look better on TV and posted on line if they were typed, but on a number of levels, that story just doesn't hold up. There are too many inconsistencies factually with what is in the memos."
Yup. Someone typed them up and then COPIED KILLIAN'S SIGNATURE to the typed-up memos. That makes a heck of a lot of sense.
THE MOST GLARING ISSUES now are the seemingly phony P.O. Box addresses used in the headers of at least one of the memorandums. Such post office box addresses were not used by the National Guard at that time, let alone a box with a number "34567," as in the memo.
That's not true. The P.O. Box was used by the President Bush's Squadron in records in the President's publicly released files.

We've got to keep this alive. Does anyone know whatever happened to the Sandy Berger scandal?

Given that Burkett reportedly has a history of medical/emotional "issues", wouldn't it make sense for him to fabricate these fourth-rate (or is that 4th-rate) forgeries? Only someone with somewhat impaired judgment would have thought that these would pass muster.

Good theory - the crazy guy Burkett will be the patsy. They still would have to explain why they ran with his crap though. If I were him I wouldn't fly on any planes or "attempt suicide"

"People were asking questions of sources like, 'Have you ever seen or heard of a memo that suspended Bush for failing to appear for a physical?' and 'Have you heard about or know of someone who has any documentation from back in the 1970s that shows there was pressure to get Bush into the National Guard?' It was like they were placing an order for a ready-made product. That is the biggest problem I have with this. It's all too neat and perfect for what we needed.

Burkett is not a good soldier for the DNC. He will not fall on his sword for them in this. CBS/DNC can try to blame him but he will fight them on it.
