This is the response from Peter Wallsten from a couple of emails to I sent today concerning Freepers and the Forum......
Hey, Peter. If you're still looking, what do you think of this?
"The Bush "Guard memos" are forgeries! (Nonpartisan printing expert weighs in)"

Now that's a good one! Read that this afternoon. I'll send it to him tomorrow. Right now, this ol' sod is going to bed and cuddle with mother. Evening everyone! You people are all right.
Thanks.
HAHAHA! Good Tag Line too!
you've just gotta be a native! LOL from a fourth generation Oregonian.
Nice piece, Chris. One thing I did want to mention, which is why I pinged Jim for historical accuracy, is that you made it sound like--to me anyway--FR was a result of Matt Drudge's exposure of the Monica Lewinsky affair with Clinton. Nothing could be further from the truth. Simply put, we were here first. Free Republic had been around for and was keeping tabs on Bill Clinton and the White Water scandal (among many others) long before Matt Drudge's name became a household word. The Free Republic forum actually got started on a popular dial-up service (gosh, I know it's not CompuServe but I can't remember the name...help me out here freepers...my memory is terrible) before moving to the internet.
Those action scenes of me hitting "New Posts to You" every 5 minutes are going to make cinematic history.
I believe firmly that the 1994 Republican win in Congress, the first time in 40 years, has to been credited to Rush Limbaugh's broadcasting of Conservatism!!!
Sorry about that. I just meant that Matt Drudge was doing it on the internet. And that the internet is no joke anymore and that Free Republic isn't a joke anymore either. It's more than just a forum. It's conservative activism at it's finest. I didn't mean to imply that Drudge was responsible. I believe that's why I said through the brainchild or Jim Robinson.
Yep. I started to write about that. And I believe you're right as well.
Tune in every night to watch Buckhead take on the toughest "closed cases" to expose the dark underbelly of the mainstream media. With the help of a small cadre of resourceful contacts, Buckhead leaves no stone left unturned and no good deed undone -- while never hesitating to put himself in the line of fire. (Cue theme music.)
Sean mentioned they are up to 470 stations (last Friday).
Don't shoot me -- but I remember about six months ago when the sh!t was flowing over Arnie, Geraldo was on Leno one night he said he knew the family that runs Tribune Broadcasting and they weren't zealots like the NY Times.. then they proceded to print the typlical Gray Davis junk the last weekend before the election.. I've been very disapointed for a lot of years in the LA Times as an ex-Fornie and someone who actually remembers when there was competition in news from the Hearst papers-- I quit reading the Times and only read the Orange County Register which is more conservative... all I can say is I hope this is a trend and perhaps they have seen the error of their ways. I'll believe it when and if it continues for a while longer... this seems like a fluke to me.
a popular dial-up service
q-link ?
Wow! Grants Pass. One of my favorite places in Oregon. I used to live in Medford. My other favorite place was Ashland.
It was on Prodigy.
I can just see this being a wildly popular series like CSI. :)
I thought the story was pretty good as well. You did good in your comments!
