I didn't see this guy, but perhaps he changed his name (black muslims?) if he converted to Islam?

That raises even more alarms for me.
Military converts to Islam don't exactly come without an axe to grind - John Mohammad (DC sniper) and another guy who tossed a grenade in a tent rigth before the Iraq war started are two who come to mind (come to think of it, Mohammad supposedly did the same thing).
