I have a question. Can a conventional explosive device cause a mushroom cloud of this height and width? I understand the cloud was over 2.5 miles high. Can our satellites detect radiation from an above ground test or an underground test gone horribly out of control ?

I sense a great disturbance in the Force...as if thousands of voices suddenly cried out and were suddenly silenced. ( Variation of Obie Wan's detection of the destruction of Alderian in the first Star Wars movie.)

Just curious. And why are we just hearing about this 24 hours ago ?

I heard that a large quantity of volatile chemical could set off such a big mushroom cloud.
