Hurricane Dan: Get serious

Los Angeles Times reporter Peter Wallsten meticulously reconstructs the events of this past Thursday following the CBS 60 Minutes broadcast that have led to the exposure of the "new" documents featured in the Air National Guard story as forgeries: "No disputing it: Blogs are major players."

Wallsten's article does not raise any question that we might have erred in doubting the authenticity of the documents or offer any support for their authenticity. Rather, it gives voice to desperate Democratic operatives who claim the fraudulence of the documents is a Republican conspiracy:

"It was amazing Thursday to watch the documents story go from FreeRepublic.com, a bastion of right-wing lunacy, to Drudge to the mainstream media in less than 12 hours," said Jim Jordan, a strategist for independent Democratic groups opposed to Bush.

"That's not to say the documents didn't deserve examination. But apparently the entire thing was cooked up by a couple of amateurs on Free Republic. The speed with which it moved was breathtaking." Wallsten then notes that "Rather opened his evening news broadcast Friday with a defense of his report, producing an analyst who vouched for the memos." Wallsten omits to mention that the analyst was a purported handwriting expert who could not authenticate the documents. Wallsten quotes a professor articulating the dark fears of the MSM:

Media experts said the role of the bloggers illustrated a significant development in the relationship between mainstream news and the still-nascent phenomenon of blogging.

Blogging harkens back to the early 16th Century when any printer's devil with a taste for theology could take part in the great disputes of the Reformation. Not on Catholic officials but Luther and the "big names" were fit to be tied by publications that had their own take on the issues.

Wait until they find out about our plan to sap America of its precious bodily fluids. They'll go ballistic.

Dan is more done, than a texas sidewinders eggs on a Texas highway in the middle of July.
My best to all the folks that got the goods on the real bad guy. Dan is so bad that his dead Mamma won't talk to him anymore.
Dan is so disliked in the North East, if he were a spitoon, we'd miss on purpose.
Dan is so overdone, if he were a Thanksgiving Turkey even the freeloading in-laws would say good bye.

Many years ago I was trying a case for a new clent who to whom had to prove myself. I pushed so aggressivedly that opposing counsel, in frustration, called me a "hatchet man" on the record and in front of my client. I never felt so flattered in my life. Instead of a lunatic Republican, I view myself as a "Neanderthal Republican." Hoever, I'm happy to have DemonRats refer to me by either term.

"Nascent?"

How many hours a day does everyone have to spend blogging and freeping before this is considered "mature."

These folks are still 3 years behind the times at least.

It was amazing Thursday to watch the documents story go from FreeRepublic.com, a bastion of right-wing lunacy, to Drudge to the mainstream media in less than 12 hours," said Jim Jordan

That is not amazing given that electronic signals travel at fractional light-speed. What is amazing is the slothful slow dawning on the crowd that foisted these things on the public that they just might be forgeries.

From recognition to typing out a message on free republic is only minutes. Within two hours the pile on of cross corroborating opinions was so loud that even drudge could not help but notice the pile-up in his inbox. Twelve hours is really really really SSSSSLLLLOWWWW in the new media.

So true. The docs are probably forgeries, cobbled together in the DNC basement by an inept college drop out. However, if the 10,000,000 to one lottery comes up a winner for CBS and they are found to be authentic, then he question of how they were obtrained comes up. Since they allegedly came from a dead man's pesonal files, somebody had to steal them if they authentic. That somebody was probably hired by the DNC to do it.

"WE CAN'T LET THIS THING DIE. We just can't."

I totally agree. The RNC needs to demand answers. Demand an investigation. Beat this drum incessantly -- just as the dims would. Of course, they wouldn't have to, because if it had been a hit piece on a Dimocrap the media would willingly keep this in the news, day after day after day.

COME ON RNC! This is what you exist for. Act like you have a pair.

Of course the docs come from Billery & Co. with collusion of CBS. They were meant to be discovered as frauds because it would be blammed on Kerry and the democrats.

This will forever be the classic example of "shoot the messenger"

Dammit, we're trying to be clever here, and these conservative comedians go and muck it all up. The nerve! Don't they realize that we've been getting away with it for 20 years now?

I do not believe it was a scam. But, for the sake of argument, if it is, I would just add the friendly reminder that you can't scam an honest man.

Sweet!!! Now we are not only right wing constipators but lunatic ones ?

POLITICS = From the greek POLI for "many" and TICS for "blood sucking varmints".

LUNATIC = From the greek LUNA for "moon" and TICS for "bodily fluids sucking varmints".

That explain the night time shenanigans that go on at night on FR.
