That's just distortion for the document being copied and the copies being copied etc.

You need to understand that the original was supposed to be typed by a human on a typewriter.

It would have taken two or three "takes" to make sure you know when to hard-return so that you NEVER needed to hyphenate a word.

Open up word and write the "original" yourself using Times New Roman size 12 (oddly, it's the default on my version of Word... another kicker)...

Yes, I noticed that also.
Like others, I entered the same text into MS Word from the " On this date I ordered that ..." document. I stopped after entering the initial two lines to adjust the margins so that the auto return was in the same place as the original.

For each subsequent line the auto return went in exactly between the same words as the original without further adjustment. Could someone at a typewriter using a manual carriage return have coincidentally made the same decisions as the word processor?

The answer is, not likely.
