Speaking Truth to Duke's Academic Terror
The following letter from Rabbi Steven Ballaban to the president of Duke University deals with Duke's agreement to host the Fourth Annual Conference of the Palestine Solidarity Movement in mid-October. FrontPage Magazine exposed this story, and we have since drafted our own letter to Duke, asking them to open its proceedings to the media. Past annual conferences -- one of which was addressed by Sami al-Arian -- have justified suicide bombing and featured violent rhetoric. Click here to sign our letter. -- The Editors.

DURHAM -- A spokesman for the planners of a pro-Palestinian student conference at Duke University said his group will not sign a statement condemning terrorism, as campus Jewish groups have requested.
Condemning Palestinian organizations' methods would violate the guidelines of the Palestinian Solidarity Movement, said Rann Bar-On, a member of the affiliated Duke group Hiwar.
"We don't see it as very useful for us as a solidarity movement to condemn violence," he said. "That will not achieve any particular goal."
