Thanks very much RR for your welcome, much appreciated!
The link to the forum part of GLP is

but do beware of the naughty words that frequently appear. Fortunately, Im not familiar with most of them so they dont offend :)
As for this forum, I cant promise to be nearly as prolific as British Chick and the rest of you but Ill chip in when I can.
Its scary how addictive forums can be, and I always chuckle when I see a news item appear on the mainstream media a few days after Ive read about it first here on TM.
On the subject of the UAE story, I dont expect therell be any more from the original poster for a few hours as its night now in the Middle East.
A reminder of the link to the thread that contains this curious story:

and just to stress once again the only source for this so far is the first poster on that thread, so well just have to wait and see. But I think weve all gotten accustomed to waiting, havent we?
Stay safe, all!
Good reading ExSoldier. I've book marked it so I can finish it tomorrow. It's a long read, but a good one. Thanks!
Signing off for the evening...Stay Safe everyone!
anyone following this explosion of a car dealership on long island:
http://www.news12.com/LI/topstories/article?id=121729
a large explosion in a building (car dealer) - 15 workers inside. what could the cause of the blast be? first I heard it was a gas leak, but I can't see how - 15 people in that building would have smelled it you would think.
Thank you for posting that; I just turned the local news on to see if there is an update. I hope all is ok in Huntington.
how could it be a gas leak? for an explosion that large, the gas would have to accumulate in a closed space before being ignited - and it would smell, the 15 workers didn't smell a gas leak?
Thank God, all people in the building were accounted for although some have injuries.

Eight injured in Huntington explosion

Fire departments from throughout Huntington Town responded this afternoon to a natural gas explosion that badly damaged a used car sales building at Habberstad Nissan at 850 East Jericho Turnpike, said town officials.
Eight employees were slightly injured police said.
"There were eight non-life-threatening injuries, and those persons were taken to area hospitals," said Officer Heidi Cummings, a Suffolk Police Department spokeswoman.
A large portion of the dealership building has collapsed, and part of the debris fell onto Jericho Turnpike, blocking traffic, officials said.
The busy roadway will remain closed indefinitely, disrupting the evening rush hour, officials said.
"As of now, there are no fatalities and no serious injuries. All employees are accounted for," Cummings said.
One man who said he helped with the rescue said he was inspired by all those who pitched in after the explosion, trying to help those trapped in the rubble.
Walter Shivers, a waiter at Panama Hattie's, said he was setting up for the evening shift when the Nissan building exploded, and he ran outside.
"As soon as I saw the building collapsed, I went running for it to see if I could do anything," said Shivers, 31, of Huntington Station.
On Jericho Turnpike, people stopped their cars, got out and ran toward the collapsed building to try to help. So did others who worked nearby, Shivers said.
"There were people running from everywhere. It was inspirational. People from everywhere. The entire spectrum. Nobody showed any regard for their own safety," Shivers said. "There were some men just holding the building up to make sure it does not come down. They were supporting the roof so it did not come down upon us."
One man in particular, who was dressed in a white shirt and black pants, was in the lead, Shivers said.
"I don't know his name. He was truly a hero. There was just no fear in him at all, he was just full blast getting into the fight," Shivers said. "I just followed suit."
Shivers said that as he and the man in the white shirt entered the building they heard a woman calling for help.
"We scurried under the roof and heard one woman's voice screaming for help. We started pulling stuff from her," he recalled.
The two men pulled the loose rubble from her without much effort, and helped her out of the building. "When we heard the second woman start screaming, we weren't sure where she was," he said. "We saw a hand go up, higher than us, up to the right. We just lunged at that area. Any debris we could get out, we got it out."
The man in the white shirt went first. "The gentleman pulled her out and handed her to me. I carried her. She had a pretty substantial cut above one of her ears, I don't know which ear. All I saw was blood."
Shivers didn't smell gas. Firefighters started yelling, though, that he had to get out of the building. He did so.
"The building burst into flames right after we got the second woman out," he said.
At around 5 p.m., it was still not clear whether any customers had been killed or injured in the collapse, Cummings said. "They're still looking. They're doing a sweep of the building."
The call first came in at 3:47 p.m., she said.

I agree. I find that very curious. We will find out more if anything is unusual. I hope.
Would deportation from this place seem like a penalty or a prize?

I was looking at some of your links and it occurred to me that I would like to honor ramadam. I think I may begin smoking again and head to the nearest mosque or islamic center with a pack of ciggies and a big bottle of vodka or something this Friday.
And I can't forget to bring along some food, too. Some nice strong and pleasant smelling food! Maybe I will wear one of my rock star t-shirts to boot, one with the bare chested sexy male singer...
Along with your cigarettes and vodka, make sure you have some baby back ribs (pork, of course).
That should make an impression!
