Speaking of Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) -- I thought it was pretty foolish of Larry King to have him on as his only guest on Thursday night -- the last night of the Jewish Sukkot.
I wonder if LK knows of the things YI has said about Jews. How could he be so stupid and ill-informed as to fawn over this man who gives money to Hamas and speaks at ISNA conferences, and calls Judaism a "so-called religion".
It was interesting to note that when King asked him if he'd been in the US since 911, YI said oh yeah a number of times, but the only one he specified was some economic conference in NYC (escapes me now which one).
But he certainly did not mention all the times he's come for the ISNA both to the US and Canada.
It was the usual lovefest that comes from LK towards "celebrities" -- inane questions as always.
MamaDearest, I would really like to hear what steps the aclu would recommend the authorities take in their efforts to prevent potential terrorist attacks.
It appears clear that the aclu and arab/muslim interest groups do not share this goal of attack prevention here or in the rest of the world. Otherwise, what are they so afraid of?

Russian FM arrives in Tehran

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived here Sunday for an official visit, which is expected to focus on the two countries' nuclear cooperation as well as their fight against terrorism.
During his two-day trip, Lavrov is expected to meet his Iranian counterpart Kamal Kharrazi and Iran's marksman on nuclear issues, Hassan Rowhani as well as the country's parliament speaker Gholamali Haddad-Adel.
The Russian foreign minister is also preparing for President Vladimir Putin's visit to the Islamic Republic, the date of which has yet to be worked out between the two countries.
Lavrov will also discuss the two countries' cooperation in the fight against international terrorism.
Russia is helping Iran build the country's first nuclear power plant in the southern city of Bushehr, but is pressured by the United States to abandon the project.

ACSA indicated that based upon responses to it's news releases by some known terror connected persons, it has concluded that being apprehended was not in the terrorists' plan: they likely adjusted to the warnings raised by ACSA and others, adding additional layers of deception to their attack plan and adjusting the schedule, to elude apprehension after analyzing the threat.
"We won't be out of the woods until November 3rd," stated the Chairman of ACSA, "and even then they aren't just going to stop once the Election is over. America needs to remain diligent and ready. Congress missed the significance of terror camps for Al Qaeda hosted in North Eastern Iraq by Saddam Hussein, staging areas for what would have been a nuclear and biological attack on the USA (on Saddam's nickel). There is evidence there was recent WMD development there, ACSA has learned that since the war, it was moved 50 miles across the Syrian border, then relocated to Baku, Lebanon. ACSA indicated it was watching movement of over 8 sleeper cell groups inside of the US area, largely near major metropolitan areas, along with similar groups in Canada and Mexico, and expected another message from Osamma Bin Laden's PAKISTAN hideout, shortly. ACSA has previously placed responsibility for Bin Laden's Al Qaeda and other terrorist group activities on a combination of tactical intelligence and military activities of Pakistan, started originally by Madam Bhutto and continued by the current president of Pakistan, General Parvez Musharraf, who had been the principal proponent of the tactic under Bhutto's regime. ACSA had indicated that a special relationship between Musharraf and the oil industry dominated by Rockefeller family interests was leading to the instigation of terrorism since 1991, causing tactical interference with competitors of Rockefeller distribution and oil and gas mining companies, and assisting the world's most powerful oil empire in softening up and obtaining control over various oil and gas reserves around the globe.
ACSA had identified 9/11 as "an attack that served multiple purposes." It allowed blockading for decades of Russian Oil developers who were intent upon building a pipeline to India from the Ural Mountains, which would have eroded OPEC business with it's second largest customer base, India. Hence, it was an act which was supported by both Rockefeller (OPEC's partners and distributors, and foreign investors) and Saudi oil interests not wanting the competition. It also created an opportunity for luring America into war in Afghanistan, while simultaneously providing America knowledge of a growing threat of nuclear proliferation from Pakistan to Saddam Hussein and Iraq, necessitating immediate invasion of Iraq to block a future nuclear assault by terrorists training in North east Iraq. The commitment of AQ Khan's nuclear weapons capability by Pakistan, had made it feasible for Saddam Hussein to allow his own nuclear development activities to wind down, replaced by his alliance with Musharraf and Khan's nuclear development capability, e.g.- he had all the oil he needed to buy several nuclear weapons from Pakistan, felt Hussein. After the situation forced America's effort to institute regime change in Iraq, President Bush elected not to award the resulting oil fields to Exxon (who did approach the US government about this idea for months) and instead had L. Paul Bremer get the main oil business in Iraq, the Southern Iraqi Petroleum Company, back up and running, so the Iraqi's could control their own oil. In response, Exxon tried to move it's Valdez ships into Kirkuk, Iraq to take over distribution of SIPC's oil distribution, but were once again rebuked. Bush appointed the South Korean Oil Company consortium as "the official distribution partners" of the SIPC of Iraq, thereby fully punishing Exxon by preventing it from gaining control of Iraq's reserves.
As a result, ACSA has provided evidence that "open market offers" for Iraq's oil from angry owners and executives at Exxon, arguably the world's largest company (after GE), including it's Rockefeller owners who are dominant in control of the company (and of GE), resulted in pouring money into the election candidacy of John Kerry (a Rockefeller Democrat) and funding films like Michael Moore's F911, and various shadow campaign activities supporting Kerry, largely to no avail - President Bush still leads handily in all the electoral college polls. Finally, over the past six months, open market offers from the brokers maintained by Exxon, has driven Al Qaeda and it's related Islamist Fascist Groups to offer up their services, through General Musharraf, to once again engage in terror against the US at home and abroad, to bring more pressure to bear on the Bush campaign.
Months of analysis of intelligence, transmissions, history and monitoring of behavior of the Pakistani Government, known allies of Bin Laden and the Al Zarqawi insurgency in Iraq, along with following money from domestic interests of the Rockefeller family to offshore activities separated by 35 levels of plausible deniability, caused ACSA to start formulating the present prediction of a pending terrorism attack on the US mainland. ACSA's predictions have frequently, as in the present case, turned out to be remarkably accurate, and so today's attacks in Egypt and Baghdad simply confirmed suspicions of impending attack.

BEIJING, October 10 (RIA Novosti's Alexei Yefimov) - On results of the coming Russian-Chinese summit in Beijing, a joint political declaration will be signed, Russian ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to China Igor Rogachev said at a press conference.
Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to China will take place on October 14-16.
"On the summit results, a solid political document will be adopted, which will assess the modern stage of bilateral relations, sum up the realization of the good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation treaty and outline the course for deepening interaction in the political and economic spheres and on the international arena," said Mr. Rogachev.

The Good-neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Treaty was signed by Russia and China on July 16, 2001.
With account for the current international situation, stressed Mr. Rogachev, very important will be the discussion of tasks of joint fight against terrorism, of the situation in Iraq, on the Korean peninsula, in the Middle East, and issues of strategic stability.

Mossad makes Al-Qaeda its top target

THE ISRAELI government has ordered Mossad, the foreign intelligence service, to make the hunt for Al-Qaeda terrorists its main priority after last week’s Red Sea attacks that killed at least 33 people, most of them Israeli tourists.
Egyptian officials said yesterday they had detained dozens of bedouin tribesmen on suspicion of supplying the explosives for the blasts at the Taba Hilton and at a bungalow beach camp 35 miles down the coast.
As rescuers pulled more bodies from the wreckage of the hotel, Dan Arditi, Israel’s counterterrorism chief, urged tourists still in Egypt to come home, warning that the attacks on Thursday “don’t lessen, even in the slightest, the risk that this will happen again”.
The order to Mossad to turn its attention from Palestinian groups to Al-Qaeda was given by Ariel Sharon, the prime minister, after Israeli intelligence sources said the size of the blasts suggested they were the work of Osama Bin Laden’s network rather than Palestinian suicide bombers.
Confirmation may be provided by fingerprints taken from bomb fragments and DNA obtained from the remains of the suspected bombers.
Arditi had urged Israelis on September 9 to avoid the area because of indications of an imminent terrorist attack. His warning appeared on the front pages of the country’s main newspapers on the eve of the Jewish new year.
“This time Al-Qaeda hit our back yard,” said a security source. “If we don’t focus on them, next time it will be Tel Aviv. After four years of intifada we’ve succeeded in containing the Palestinian terror, but now we’re facing a much more ruthless enemy we can’t ignore any more.”
It is not the first time Al-Qaeda has gone after an Israeli target, or that Sharon’s government has vowed to take it on. The group claimed responsibility for the car bombing in November 2002 of an Israeli-owned hotel in the Kenyan port of Mombasa that killed 14 people, including three Israelis.
After that attack Sharon summoned Meir Dagan, the head of Mossad, and ordered agents living undercover in Saudi Arabia and Yemen to hunt down those responsible. Almost two years later the perpetrators remain at large — a reflection, according to the security source, of the agency’s concentration on combating Palestinian operations.
When Mossad was presented with a list of priorities for the current year, Al-Qaeda was not on it. Its main efforts were instead to be directed at Iran’s nuclear ambitions and the activities of Palestinian terrorist groups in Lebanon and Syria.
Israeli intelligence sources said they believed the Taba attack had been masterminded by Ayman al-Zawahiri, the Egyptian doctor regarded as Bin Laden’s deputy. In a statement broadcast this month on the Al-Jazeera satellite television channel, al-Zawahiri threatened to focus Al-Qaeda’s efforts more intensely on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Nothing is known about how Mossad will carry out its mission, especially against al-Zawahiri, who is believed to be in hiding near the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Intelligence sources said this weekend the organisation — which has no more than 150 agents operating all over the world — would not try to compete with America’s CIA.
It would instead focus on Turkey and Thailand. “We’ll co-ordinate with the local security services, but our main aim will be to protect Israeli tourists in these two locations,” said one intelligence source.
The agency would then work in a more systematic way, by listing top Al-Qaeda activists and trying to kill them in the same way they have done over the past 40 years in operations against various terrorist groups. “To hit an Al-Qaeda leader either in Saudi Arabia, Europe, or even Tehran is less difficult than to act in Damascus,” said one intelligence source. “It’s all a matter of priorities.” Aladin Abdel Naby

Beaumont students watch 'Fahrenheit 9/11' in class

BEAUMONT -- A Southeast Texas businessman is upset that his son's English class watched Michael Moore's scathing documentary on President Bush and his handling of events after the terrorist attacks.
Michael Kurth, a veteran, said he was opposed to the film "Fahrenheit 9/11" based on its R rating and political partisanship. His son Matthew, 17, said that he put his head on his desk and tried to sleep through it.
"It bothered me," he said.
Moore's condemnation of Bush's actions regarding the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon became the first documentary to top the $100 million mark domestically. In the film, Moore examines the Bush administration's alleged financial ties to Saudi Arabia and the bin Laden family.
"It is spun to a very liberal viewpoint," the businessman said. "It is absolutely wrong for teachers to take a political position with some of these kids at legal voting age."
Michael Ryals, principal of Pathways Learning Center, said that he previewed part of the film before he allowed the teacher to show it in class Friday.
"I didn't hear anything that was offensive to me," he told the Beaumont Enterprise in today's editions, adding that he did not know of the R rating.
Ryals said one student told him of another movie that takes an opposing view and he urged the student to bring it Monday for review to see if it could be shown.
Pathways is an alternative school for students moved from their home campuses for disciplinary reasons. Kurth said his son is at the school for 40 days after having too many tardies.
Beaumont Independent School District spokeswoman Jolene Ortego said she spoke to Kurth and assured him the matter would be addressed by Monday morning.
School board trustee John Williams said R-rated films should not be shown without parental consent.
Kurth, 39, said he watched it to see all sides and decided he did not want his family to see it, then was "livid" to hear that his son's class was viewing it weeks before the general election.
Earlier this summer, thousands of people watched the documentary in Crawford, Bush's adopted hometown, where Moore's staff had made arrangements to send a copy after learning that no theaters in the Waco area had been showing the film. A Waco theater subsequently agreed to screen the film.

In an interview with Matt Bai published in today’s New York Times Magazine, Kerry made a very, very, very significant statement about how he would fight the war on terror. Kerry compared the war on terrorism with eradicating prostitution or illegal gambling.
''We have to get back to the place we were, where terrorists are not the focus of our lives, but they're a nuisance,'' Kerry said. ''As a former law-enforcement person, I know we're never going to end prostitution. We're never going to end illegal gambling. But we're going to reduce it, organized crime, to a level where it isn't on the rise. It isn't threatening people's lives every day, and fundamentally, it's something that you continue to fight, but it's not threatening the fabric of your life.''
Terrorism, a nuisance?
