May God give you strength and comfort you in this affliction.

May He receive the soul of your son into his service, and may He ease the pain and heal the injuries of your son's friends.

We ask this Father, for Thy Son's sake.

Amen

I'm so sorry for the loss of Jacob. Please stay close to the Lord. It is the most horrible thing that can happen to a family.

My son's best friend killed himself on a motorcycle at 19. I know it took 9 months before I didn't cry every day for the loss of him.

The next year will be so hard, so I will keep you in my prayers. I hope he believed in Christ and will be in heaven waiting for you. I will also pray that his friend is okay. Please stay close to your spouse ( and any other children you may have) and draw strength from each other.

Dear friends,
I am so sorry to hear of your tragic loss. Jacob will be missed in your daily lives, but he is welcomed home in Heaven this day, and your joyful reunion awaits God's timing. This moment here on earth is just so temporary for all of us.
May you receive peace, grace and strength in the coming days and weeks, and feel His holy presence in your hearts and home.
Let a miracle touch Jacob's friend, so he may live to glorify God.
Bless your family.
Love
Valerie

Lost,

My parents are immigrants from Iran, strong supporters of the former pro-US Shah regime, my father was a medical doctor for over 20 years and family were pro-US advocates, after the revolutuon they opt'd for a better life for my brother and I by moving to the US.

Unfortunately, I lost my best friend and my only brother when he was 19 and i was 12. His loss destroyed my family for years, and dramatically affected my personal life. Every night before he went to bed [we shared a bedroom at our apartment] he'd always read from the Bible and ask me for forgiveness, at that age i never understood, in fact i'd get so angry at his consistent pleads at night. I didn't know what forgiveness meant, much less what the Bible was all about.

He was champ for our county in high school wrestling before he left. I wore his pin to my graduation from my university and i will wear it again to my law school graduation. I will wear it again when my future child is born, i will wear it again when i open my first business, i will wear it again when i run for office, and i will wear it again when i serve our country.

And i hope to always say to my children "forgive me for everything i ever did to you", and keep my Bible under my bed, perhaps they will not understand at that age, but similar to me.. they certainly will understand one day.

I wanted to let you know, you definitely aren't alone.

I've shared this story with very few, i just want you to know my story and know you aren't alone.

Please keep in touch and i'm Praying for you.

Brave Man and LostThread, my friends, my prayers and thoughts are with you.

Jacob was blessed to have lived with the love and guidance of you both. May the memory of his life give you the strength to endure this trying time.

God bless you both. Rest in Peace Jacob.

Mark

My heart is aching. May God be with you and your family.

I have found that when someone leaves this Earth to be with our Heavenly Father it is harder on those that were left behind.

Our Prayers for Strength, Faith and Courage are with you and your family.

"Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love."

I too lost my son in a wreck back in '97, (and he also had a friend who survived).

You'll go through hell, no doubt about it, but trust me - you'll eventually find that the pain means you'll celebrate his profound existence.

Don't beat up on yourself with "what-if's" either. You were only what you could be at any given moment.

I wish you peace....

There is a poem which I like to think about in times of despair, perhaps it can offer you some small comfort,

Do not stand by my grave and weep
I am not there I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain

When you awaken in the morning hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the stars that shine in the night
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there, I did not die

You are not alone - we are here with you, and so is God. I cannot do anything but to throw my arms around you and say "you are not alone".

So many here have travelled this road before you. God Himself watched as His own Son died. Because of that, He already is holding your precious baby in His arms. He gave your son to you, and you sent him back, a whole and holy spirit. Your son returned to God, and God is rejoicing that this, his good boy made it home tonight, safe at last in His own loving arms...

You are not alone.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. May his soul, and all the souls of hte faithful departed, through the mercy of God rest in peace, Amen.

I promise you that this night, I shall offer prayers for the dead for your son, Jacob, and will offer the Rosary - that God may take pity upon his soul.

At 3PM tomorrow - the hour of Mercy - which commemorates the death of Christ upon the cross, I suggest that you offer the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy for Jacob.

Mary, Mother of the Redeemer, have pity upon this child.

Jacob is of God now, as we all shall eventually be - in one way or another.

Though God insists that we, the living, go on, even in our human grief, to try to make the world better by our passing.

Though may Jacob be remembered, and his living friend yet counseled in Thy grace. Amen.
