Retired Maj. General Hodges, Killian's supervisor at the Grd, tells ABC News that he feels CBS misled him about the documents they uncovered. According to Hodges, CBS told him the documents were "handwritten" and after CBS read him excerpts he said, "well if he wrote them that's what he felt."

They are going to proclaim the originals WERE handwritten, and that all this internet frenzy about "forgeries" is "much ado about nothing"..... This scenario might make sense if they hadn't made the mistake of adding a signature to the memos. If they now claim all they had were handwritten notes, they also admit that they forged the signatures on the memos. It is is still forgery either way, and harder to justify or explain under this scenario.

All the RATS are jumping ship.

I smell a sneaky trick about to be sprung, and this explains why Rather isn't backing down. They are going to proclaim the originals WERE handwritten, and that all this internet frenzy about "forgeries" is "much ado about nothing"..... I heard Rather on 9PM radio news talking about why the TYPED document was authentic (his "th" excuse).
The "originals were handwritten" dog can't possibly hunt if they're trying to defend the technical aspects of the typed ones. Doesn't mean they won't try, but it would be a monumental knee-slapper.

That Dan Rather thought he could get away with this suggests, to me anyway, that he's been getting away with similar lies for years, and having gotten away with it, has become more and more brazen and careless. Of course. As I said earlier today, the only thing that makes this a story is the fact that CBS publicized the fact that they had NEW DOCUMENTS, and those documents are obviously forged.
Rather, CBS, and most of the other presstitutes lie on a daily basis. Every day they take whatever talking points the DNC fax them and just spew them out. This time they went too far. Forgery isn't something you can just brush off. And the forgery is completely and totally obvious.

It's also getting more and more like the job the wretched Marxist Peter Arnett and his pal April Oliver did on Tom Moorer. Not that Bush would sue, but on the civil side this is outside the bounds of the NYT v. Sullivan line of cases.

In 1991, PO Box 34567 Houston TX belonged to Ashland Oil. If you don't mind me asking I would like to know how you found this? Sounds like something I might need to know how to do someday.

Why did Rather emphasize the superscript comparison between a Killian memo and another doc produced in the early 70's tonight when attempting to support his claim of authenticity if he's going to produced handwritten docs later?
To: Texasforever
He can't do that since he based his entire rebuttal on the fact that typewriters of the era had the features being questioned. Misdirection.
He simply claimed the assertion that the font didn't exist, and the capability to do superscripts, as of the date of the memo weren't accurate.
He's setting us up. (or so I speculate)

What's that? Is ABC still talking about it? I figured Fox was the only one.

All you posters predicting DOOM, and GLOOM for CBS, and or Rather, remind me of all the dire consequences predicted for Bildo Clintoon, and Hitlery, and lyinAlGore, and Sid Vicious Blumenthall,,Sandy Burgler,Janet Reno,and...etc.etc. What a diff 6 years makes. You must admit the story wouldn't have gotten this far 6 years ago.
But your point is well-taken. Anyone who thinks the power struggle between the MSM and the Net-blogosphere is over is sadly mistaken, both for this story and the ones that will inevitably arrive in the future.

Dan Rather decided to ride out this hurricane. He's now sitting on a 4'X7' piece of what's left of his roof and racing down the severely swollen SOL creek.
