During the daytime, yes, it is live all day. I was only referring to the time period after 11:00 p.m. Eastern/8:00 p.m. Pacific.

Then why wasn't Dan's evening news live here in LA at 6:30pm Eastern?

Oh, I see where we're getting confused. I was only talking about the cable news channels, not the broadcast networks.

Brit Hume primarily ... it ended not long ago. Watching Shep Smith now. It's 4.44pm. All the cable shows are live right now. They repeat every three hours ... but I am normally too tired to watch them later.

Right. Starting at 6:00 p.m. Eastern, the three cable news channels start running hour-long programs, most of which are live, but at 11:00 p.m. those programs all end up repeating until 5:00 a.m. (6:00 a.m. in FNC's case). The cable networks claim it's "for the convenience of West Coast viewers," but in reality they're just too cheap to run live shows at night. Back when CNN was the only game in town, they were live all night long except for maybe an hour or so around 4:00 a.m. (It's been so long since they've done that, I can't even remember the old schedule.)

You'll often see me on this site at 3am in the morning when I wake.

Me too, but usually I'm winding down before bed, LOL! Nothing like breakfast at noon...
