Rather's idea of a defense of these documents, is to trash the Guard. Then the documents are just typical of the corruption.
It's like Kerry's atrocities claim. Smear the service to make a political point. Who needs truth, who needs proof, when they can sling mud?
"Rather's idea of a defense of these documents, is to trash the Guard"
And didn't McCain and Clinton advise them to stop refighting the VietNam War?
This is an argument out of those days for sure: Bush is a son of privelege, and did not have to go, because someone pulled strings for him to get in the Guard . . .
The fact that he actually flew those planes is of course irrelevant . . .
And also irrelevant is the fact that Clinton used a Senator to pull for him in not having to serve AT ALL, in the Guard or otherwise -- but of course, back then, we did not WANT to re-fight the divisive VietNam War. A decade later, we HAVE to . . .
Bush served honorably. End of debate. IMO.
The Guard, as a State institution, has continuity and loyalty. I hope there is a ping list of TX National Guard people, back then, Iraq now. I know a lot of active units from Ft Hood and reserve units from Ft Bliss went to Iraq.
I can't imagine trashing the TX Guard will help Kerry or Blather . . .
