Actually (and this isn't picking nits), the question is their authenticity. A forgery is not authentic. DNC-BS hasn't offered to have independent experts examine the documents they have (copies of originals or originals themselves).
They've spent a couple of days asserting the docs' credibility, which is different.
They should just demand an answer "Dan, do you have the original, or do you have a copy?"
That's all anybody needs to ask Dan to prove the credibility of the source.
A good lawyer challenging the docs would ask that question and many others.

The authenticity issue can be proven one way or the other by his answering whether he has a copy, or whether he has an original.
If he has the original, why was it doctored to look like a copy? Let's see the typing strike throughs on the back of the page, etc., etc, etc.,
