I don't see how anyone's going to jail over this. In all likelihood, he's adopted a "that's my story and I'm sticking to it" attitude because he knows he can't survive a vote of no-confidence at CBS if he admits they were fake. He's praying that this will somehow backfire on the Republicans and he'll be a hero.

All we need to do is have a district attorney in Texas summon a grand jury for a forgery case, clearly forging a us army document is a crime....He can name Dan Rather as a co-conspirator....if Dan takes the fifth, he's toast...maybe he'll go down alone but I don't think a Texan jury will be very sympathetic.

I believe there’s something about falsifying military records that makes this a federal crime.

If Robin Rather was the forger or at least the conduit between the forged government documents and her daddy, she would go to jail.

But it will be nice to know he's involved in a felony someway: production
and dissemination of fraudulent federal government documents...
