Friday, Sept. 10, 2004 12:59 a.m. EDT Caddell: Dan Rather May Have Cost Kerry the Election
Longtime Democratic strategist Pat Caddell said Friday that if documents aired by CBS newsman Dan Rather Wednesday night turn out to be forged as alleged by experts, the presidential race "is over."
"It would be the end of the race," Caddell told Fox News Live. "It would be the end of the race," he repeated.
"[Democratic officials are] so involved in this," the former Carter pollster worried. "They have gotten themselves so involved in this issue, [in] the last 24 hours, that somebody's going to, if they're not authentic, they're going to be blamed for it. It's incredible to me that they've gotten in this." Caddell said he wasn't trying be sensationalize the issue, explaining that instead, "I'm trying to save my party, you know, by telling the truth."
He said that forfeiting the presidential race would be the least of his party's problems if Democrats are tied to any forgery scandal.
"The race is over - and we've got bigger problems than that," he warned.
No one can cost Kerry the election but Kerry.
Truth! What a radical concept for a Democrat.
Check out my post #160 from http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1212252/posts?q=1&&page=151 . Have a laugh:):)
He and Zell Miller ought to get together and form a party called the Old Fashioned, True Blue Democrats. This Republic needs more than one party, but it needs both (or all) parties to be respectful and caring of our Constitution. Faint hope though. Mrs PD
yeah and I probably would not do it myself (I don't know if I could pose as a Democrat long enough to attain mod status), but this guy really enjoys it. Anything that keeps them in disarray makes me happy.
Jimmy Carter is readied at the typewriter, Pat will hear from him soon.
LOL-LOL-LOL!
He is the worst candidate ever offerred by either party. Hands down.
I was beginning to think there wasn't a single prominent Democrat left with a shred of honor and decency. Miller and Coddell have changed my mind.
That said, the Party seems to have fallen into the hands of a cabal of slimy cretins who will do virtually anything to hang on to power. The Clintons seemed to have started this slide to slime as Clinton had a genius for identifying people with no scrulples who would do literally anything for him and to hang on to the power that he conferred on them. Democrat politicians with integrity who wouldn't play ball were ruthlessly purged and there is no one left at the top to challenge their authority. Mc Auliffe, Carville, Davis, Begala, etc., there is about another half dozen or so who run the show and, through syncophants in the media who are kept onside through promises of scoops, "inside information" and exclusive interviews, they dictate the Party's makeup, policies, funding priorities and even it's Presidential candidates. They have the Party by the throat and I don't see how they can be gotten rid of.
They have arranged it so that even if Kerry loses badly in November, they won't go down too. They have never tied their future to his and if his defeat should mean a Party shake up, they will just take advantage of it to get rid of even more potential opponents to Hitlery's run in 2008.
Time for Kerry to go windsurfing....permanently.
Normally that might be true, but if CBS is sinking, I don't think ABCNBC will hop on board. I think they might even take advanage of the situation and do a little piling on.
CBS is up to its neck in this mess. CBS has no alternative but to put on an OJ defense and pray that the American people are as stupid and naieve as they are.
I don't think the rest of the media wants to go down with CBS.
