I think what happened is that they got away with so many outrageous lies, that they got sloppy -- Dieboldgate, Plamegate, Dick Clarke's 911 fantasies, BVDgate, etc. They figured they could get away with anything. Plan B will be that the GOP fed the garbage to Rather.
