Actually we as a country could make money off those who smoke pot. The government could regulate and tax it and we would have less people serving time in prison for urbane reasons. We could focus our resources into having real dangerous criminals in prison therefore maybe we wouldn't have to let those criminals out into the street before their time is supposed to be up.

There are solid grounds for arguing for the legalization of drugs, or at least the decriminalization of drugs, but tax revenue is not one of them. Taxes are a dead-weight loss whether they come from incomes, sales or drugs.

Tax revenue to the government should never be put in the "pro" category of any debate.
