Note that nowhere in the bible does Jesus smoke pot.Note that nowhere in the bible does Jesus fry an egg, or empty His bladder. What's your point?

[Pot smokers] are also the same brain dead individuals who then get the munchies and get in their car to go to 7-11Many drinkers drive; is that a good argument for banning alcohol? (I say no.)

I think the original poster sounds like someone who believes in the radical notion of a smaller, less intrusive government. Then he/she should drop the stupid "legalize drugs" plank from their platform
Why? Legalizing drugs would yield a less intrusive government.

Pot is the drug of choice for the counter-culture. They use it as a recruiting tool.I know many people who've regularly smoked pot but not joined the counterculture. And I think a large part of what makes pot countercultural is its illegality; legal drugs like alcohol aren't countercultural.

Banning alcohol was tried; we learned that the cure was worse than the disease. May we soon realize that the same is true about drug laws.

No, it would at most replace one law with another less restrictive law.

What conservative would ever be interested in using illegal drugs anyway? You've obviously never partied with College Republicans.

Right, they should have ignored the enrichment of criminals and decreased respect for laws in general. Who cares about that?

If you legalize it, you might as well just give this country over to the liberals, communists and homosexuals. Not only that, but it makes white women sleep with black jazz musicians.

No, it would at most replace one law with another less restrictive law. Wrong again!
Here's what would happen...
Less social pressure against drug use would lead to more drug users which would lead to more injuries and deaths from drug abuse which would lead to more court cases which would lead to increasing pressure from victim's rights group on politicians to create more and stricter laws to deal with the mounting deaths and injuries...
(There, I've run rings around your logic yet AGAIN)!

Jesus threw the money changers from the temple. So yes, my guess is that he would have been anti-corporate. So I guess my mutual funds are an affront to God?
Do you only engage in activities that Jesus specifically engaged in himself? Nowhere in the Bible did Jesus get vaccinated, so I guess that's a sin, too.

which would lead to more injuries and deaths from drug abuse
Utterly unclear. Many drug-related deaths stem from their illegality; for example, legalized drugs could be regulated for purity, lessening contaminant-caused deaths.

Untrue...that generation lost their resolve No. They realized that the benefits of Prohibition (a decrease in alcohol use) were greatly outweighed by the negatives (the rise of organized crime, violent turf battles between moonshiners and the corruption of police forces, to just name a few).
Are you saying that the status quo on alcohol is worse than what went on in the 1920's?
