Have never been through a hurricane although I remember alot of excitement and boarding up of windows during a visit with my relatives in Jacksonville, Fla. back when I was a girl, can't remember the name of that hurricane but it did miss Jacksonville.
Have been through a tornado and know how frightening that can be.
We do get the remnants of those hurricanes alot of times here in the North GA mountains, Opal tore this area up back in the early 90's, took alot of our oldest trees down.

I spent all of my summers though the 1970s on the west coast of Florida, but it wasn't until I moved to Delaware that I ever had to deal with a hurricane (Gloria).

If you remember reading "Misty of Chincoteague" when you were young, you will get a good idea of where I live now....in fact hubby and I are going to be going over to chincoteague Island this afternoon for our first Friday afternoon "date" without the little one since June!!!
