What's scary, when you think about it, is that Kerry/CBS may have gotten away with this if they simply pulled out an old typewriter, and added a few typos and whiteout ink...
It was amateur night. This was a low budget effort, and to think with Kerry's millions.
I'll bet those chuckleheads who made the fake docs were bragging to all their buddies and having a real good laugh, saying they had a surefire plan take Bush down. Now I bet they're in a spiderhole somewhere, praying the Dems don't get to them before we do.
Isn't it? Even though his widow and son are speaking out, CBS could still claim the documents are true.
The one thing that scares me on this is that, if this story doesn't take down CBSNEWS and Rather--as it oughta--then we've just tipped of the Dems as to how not to forge docs.
They won't make the same mistakes next time.

That's exactly why I don't think they did it, but I am guaranteeing they wish whoeever did it had. Somehow this either started out as a gag (ala Kerry/Fonda pic) or a trap.
I thought about that. We save several IBM Selectric III's still in our office for completing downloaded forms. Even though they were not in use in the earliy 70's, I bet the differences would have been much less noticeable.
I am remembering what a pain in the butt centering text was. As another thread pointed out, the letterhead is perfectly centered. Is that even possible on a typewriter. Would a commander sit there and count characters, divide by two and backspace from the centerpoint of the page for a CYA memo? I don't think so.
