I can't believe the AS swallows this malarkey about CBS producers being "duped" by anybody. Nobody is that dumb. Rather and CBS went right ahead with a story they knew to be a lie. Either that or they don't know how to research a story and are extremely low IQ, borderline moron. I don't buy it.

The CBS producer said that some alarms bells went off last week when the signatures and initials of Killian on the documents in hand did not match up with other documents available on the public record, but producers chose to move ahead with the story.

When irrational animosity takes root in a business where the players are pretty much the bottom of the gene pool, those emotions, justified or not trigger pretty stupid acts.

You know the 60 Minutes crew was popping champagne after their hit piece on Bush's National Guard duty. They were high fiving and congratulating themselves on the back. They believe the could bring the Lurch back from the walking dead. They were so wanting to bring the President down, and blinded by ambition, they didn't want to hear the negative about the documents. Are these the same people who put explosives in the gas tanks of trucks and crashed them. Then ran a show showing them bursting in flames and claiming the trucks were a consumer menace.

Now, the producer says, there is growing concern inside the building on 57th Street that they may have been suckered by the Kerry campaign. "There is a school of thought here that the Kerry people dumped this in our laps, figuring we'd do the heavy lifting on the story.

According to one ABC News employee, some reporters believe that the Kerry campaign as well as the DNC were parties in duping CBS, but a smaller segment believe that both the DNC and the Kerry campaign were duped by Karl Rove, who would have engineered the flap to embarrass the opposition.

More than six weeks ago, an opposition research staffer for the Democratic National Committee received documents purportedly written by President George W. Bush's Texas Air National Guard squadron commander, the late Col. Jerry Killian.

The oppo researcher claimed the source was "a retired military officer." According to a DNC staffer, the documents were seen by both senior staff members at the DNC, as well as the Kerry campaign.

"More than a couple people heard about the papers," says the DNC staffer. "I've heard that they ended up with the Kerry campaign, for them to decide to how to proceed, and presumably they were handed over to 60 Minutes, which used them the other night. But I know this much. When there was discussion here, there were doubts raised about their authenticity."

The DNC supplied the docs to CBS.....trying to claim that they got them from Rove shows that they know they are busted.

ROVE WOULD HAVE NEVER TAKEN A RISK LIKE THAT. IF NOBODY HAD CALLED THE DOCS INTO QUESTION.....BUSH WOULD BE HURT BY THIS.

This is enough to show that the DNC is behind this.

As bottom line to this article, there are only two possibilities:

Entire thing was set up by Kerry, and poorly: AMF
Entire thing was set up by Rove and the idiot Kerryistas were too stupid to see it. Again, AMF

I'm beginning to see that some young producers believed Kerry people that letters were genuine. They accepted the kerry provenance. That's as far as they went. They believed because they wanted to believe.
