Home Depot sent this in response to my email....
Dear Tammy,
Thank you for contacting homedepot.com!
We sincerely appreciate hearing from all of our customers and we thank you for your feedback and concerns.
As far as our advertising policy is concerned, for competitive business reasons The Home Depot advertises on programs that are most popular with the viewing public. We work hard to avoid programs that are inconsistent with our values, but as you probably know, it is impossible to preview content of any program prior to its broadcast.
The Home Depot is committed to building stronger communities. We are proud of our long tradition of supporting organizations working in the areas of affordable housing, disaster preparedness, at-risk youth and the environment. Over the last 12 years, The Home Depot has contributed nearly $200 million and tens of millions of volunteer hours to worthwhile causes.
We hope this answers your concerns. Thank you, again, for sharing your comments. We appreciate hearing from all of our customers.
Thank You,
Chris S

"Dear Home Depot...Due to your advertising support for 60 Minutes ...Sears and Lowe's will now get all of my business instead."
In the interest of effectiveness, I think it would be a good idea for all of us to not overplay our hand; in this case, to appear reasonable.
Specifically, I mean to specifically state something like: ...until I personally have received your assurance that you have CEASED advertising on 60II, I will shop at OSH/(your local chain) instead, THOUGH THEIR SELECTION IS NOT AS GOOD, AND IN FACT THEIR EMPLOYEES ARE LESS TRAINED, (emphasis for you, not them).
See what I mean? Anyone who has worked with the public knows that there will ALWAYS be a segment who will whine no matter *what* you do-- we should distance ourselves from that portion. Just a thought.
