UPDATE 12: In the August 18, 1973 memo "discovered" by 60 Minutes, Jerry Killian purportedly writes:
Staudt has obviously pressured Hodges more about Bush. I'm having trouble running interference and doing my job. But wait! Reader Amar Sarwal points out that General Staudt, who thought very highly of Lt. Bush, retired in 1972.
The more I look at these "memos," the more obvious it appears that they are inept forgeries.

The 1973 memo doesn't make sense in this fictional story. There's too much elapsed time from the prior memo. I bet that the forger meant to put 1972 on the fourth memo. Makes more sense coming two weeks after the third memo.

I have yet to see any credit given to FR. Has anyone seen any links or mention of FR?
I saw freeper Buckhead's post last night. TankerKC had an earlier post.
Then, this morning,
powerlineblog.com started the cascade around 7:50 a.m.
The powerlineblog.com mentions Buckhead's post #47
Buckhead's post #47 right in the first entry in that blog topic.
After powerlineblog.com started it, it was like an avalanche starting with a small snowball rolling down the mountain.

Howlin's

The email creation date (or I should say "the date that the creation of the application of network transmitted mail occured") is in that link to About.com on ARPA you messaged me with, 1971.
Thanks again :-)

Woo Hoo! Thanks for the ABC article. I lurked this whole thread not knowing what to add till I saw that. It really is unraveling... Oh, me, too...been lurking off and on for several hours. There are several new articles about the Washington Post and USA Today, plus others, picking up the story. Drudge has a big splash about it, too.

Right...what I meant was whether it was available to this person at this location when the memo was supposedly written. It wasn't very widespread.

Berger is, probably, still trying to get rid of the documents he stole from the National Archives!

I'm waiting breathlessly to see if the networks run with this. I wonder if Blather and CBS will apologize.

Wow I am amazed at the power of this website, absolutely amazed. It was our FReepers who broke this story and this story will bring CBS and Kerry to their knees. The public doesn't like these type of scandals. And once the investigation traces it back to the Kerry campaign. It will be completely over for the dems.

I can't believe our GOOD FORTUNE! This is outrageously hilarious. Kerry is the biggest Dem disaster in over 50 years. Dukakis and Mondale can't hold a candle to the incompetence of the Kerry campaign. I mean, first he gets thrased on the basis of his own record and words and when he tries to respond to it he digs himself even deeper. This is the most exciting presidential election I've ever witnessed in my short life!

CBS was biased in their analysis of these documents as they are bias in all their news.
Anyone that was impartial wouldn't have ran this story, I could even see these are fakes and I am no expert.
