General Staudt was retired!
Powerline ^ | Sept 9 2004 | Big Trunk

Posted on 09/09/2004 4:34:07 PM PDT by Dog

UPDATE 12: In the August 18, 1973 memo "discovered" by 60 Minutes, Jerry Killian purportedly writes:

Staudt has obviously pressured Hodges more about Bush. I'm having trouble running interference and doing my job. But wait! Reader Amar Sarwal points out that General Staudt, who thought very highly of Lt. Bush, retired in 1972.

The more I look at these "memos," the more obvious it appears that they are inept forgeries.

I feel like getting on the phone to the networks and singing a line from 'Pirates':

''Oh false one, you have deceived me...' ;-)

Staudt retired in 1972....before the August 18,1973 was written.

It goes to show the importance of reading the person, and questioning any reading on print about a person. ; )

It was a joy to behold. Harkin braying like an ass about President Bush lying, and basing this braying on possibly forged documents. Holding my hand over my heart, doing the Red FOXX - "I'm coming Lizbeth." I just can't take much more of this joy!

Has old media always been this sloppy?

Probably, but now we have the Internet to catch them. I've said it before, I'll say it again. The Internet is the modern version of the free press that the founders envisioned.

The more I look at these "memos," the more obvious it appears that they are inept forgeries.

Only a FREAKIN' MORON would vote for the candidate backed by a person(s)
that couldn't pull off a decent forgery.

I can't help but wonder if this forgery came from one of the "intelligence" operatives
that fed Dubya FALSE intelligence about Saddam and WMDs.
