Both IBM Selectric typewriters (1961) and the earlier IBM Executive (1950s) could use proportionately spaced fonts.

Really. Enlighten the rest of us. Preferrably, drop us a link to some available product info to back it up. I've noticed a few people here in agreement as to that statement, but all I've been able to discover so far is one top-o-da-line Selectric Composer model that could accomplish proportionate spacing.
