Heh heh... perhaps if the Cubs ever make it to the Series again, they can throw it, a la 1919. Or, if they don't make it again, they can at least have drunken asses jump out of stands and attack opposing coaches. Or, at the very least they could dress their team in shorts and become a laughingstock in the league... wow, I'd be all proud to be a White Sox fan too!
And note, I'm not a huge Cubs fan, I just love slaughtering sacred cows.

No, this year (not 1919)a cubs fan shot a sox fan dead just outside Wrigley shortly after an AFTERNOON game, without provocation.
Really proud of that, eh Jokelahoma (WS fans harbor no delusions about the pathetic state of their club)

We're gonna win Twins,
we're gonna score.
We're gonna win Twins,
watch that baseball soar!
Crack out a home run,
shout a "Hip Hooray!"
Cheer for the Minnesota Twins today!

Ah, yes, the jingle. Back when teams actually wrote songs like that. A true sign of summer for me!

Backtracking how? I said I'm not a fan of the Cubs in the first post. I said it in the second post. I said I like slaughtering sacred cows in the first post, I said I like poking sleeping snakes in the second. I pointed out the White Sux have warts on 'em same as the Cubs in the first, didn't change that in the second. A Cubs fan pointed out that the White Sox were the ones who threw the series in 1919, which was my point all along in the first post, and I clarified that. Now if you can point out how that's backtracking, I'd love to hear it. Otherwise, you should spend more time preparing the next coaching attack. :-)

It would be a shame if somehow the Cubs were to win the World Series before the 100th anniversary of their last such win. I believe it will be the 2008 season for such "celebrations". Red Sox will have that honor in 2018. For the record the Cubs have won 2 world series and the Red Sox 5 including the very first. Many franchises would love to have that.

Back when?
The Wild (hockey) wrote their own anthem as well, and that was only back in 2000 This is their themesong:
The State of Hockey. Granted, I know what you mean about teams not doing the 'little cool things' anymore. And I do agree with you that that song is as much a sign of Summer as the Wild Anthem is a sign of winter for me!
However those are days past where baseball wasn't the place where you could get a ball thrown at your head for spite...

Dusty Baker When he was here with the Giants we were 6 outs from the Worlds Series Champions and he handed the game winning ball to the pitcher as he took him out, Anahiem got 3 runs in the 7th, three runs in the 8th and the fat lady sang. Chicago last year same thing, 6 outs to go and they blow it. Can you imagine being 12 outs away from two championships with two teams in two years? Poor Dusty, I guess those guys that play in hot weather do not do so well when the weather turns cool.
To: akorahil
That's a good point. I had forgotten about the Skating W's song. However, it sounds like someone's being abused in order to hit the high notes. :)
As for Torii Hunter, he should know that there are ways to get back at a pitcher even in the American League. When Julio next pitches against the Twins, all someone has to do is bunt up the first baseline and let the pitcher field the ball. Instant retaliation.
And, of course, probable suspensions, but that's the price you pay.
