Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004 1:32 a.m. EDT Bob Dole to Join Vets Unveiling Kerry Movie
Former Sen. Bob Dole will team up with a group of former Vietnam prisoners of war at a Washington, D.C. press conference on Thursday to announce a new documentary that chronicles the deep resentment the POW community has for Sen. John Kerry.
As first reported by NewsMax.com's Insider Report, the film "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal" features former POWs describing how Kerry's 1971 testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee gave aid and comfort to the enemy while adding to the their own suffering at the hands of their Hanoi Hilton jailers.
The surviving men and their families say they were betrayed by Kerry, blasting the would-be president for his anti-war activities as leader of the group Vietnam Veterans Against the War. The film, produced by Pulitzer Prize winner Carlton Sherwood, features former Vietnam POWs George "Bud" Day, Jack L. Van Loan, Paul Galanti, Robert H. Shumaker, Ken Cordier and others.
Day - a Medal of Honor winner - said in a statement issued last month:
"I draw a direct comparison [with] General Benedict Arnold of the Revolutionary War to Lieutenant John Kerry. Both went off to war, fought, and then turned against their country.
"General Arnold crossed over to the British for money and position," Day explained. "John Kerry crossed over to the Vietnamese with his assistance to the anti-war movement and his direct liaison with the Vietnamese diplomats in Paris. His reward. Political gain."
Galanti recently recalled how his Hanoi Hilton jailers would play Sen. Kerry's Senate speech to bolster their accusations that American soldiers were war criminals.
"They would tell us POWs, that 'You're not prisoners of war. You're criminals," Galanti told Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes. "You're war criminals because you've committed atrocities in killing babies, bombing dams and pagodas.'
"They were promoting [Kerry] as a big friend of theirs," Galanti charged.
Last month, Sen. Dole condemned Kerry's anti-war activities, telling CNN, "Maybe he should apologize to all the other two-and-a-half million veterans who served. He wasn't the only one who was in Vietnam."
This is a big one.......bigger than the Swiftees IMHO.
If true, this is great news.
Big points for Senator Dole.
How petty! These self-centered Vietnam vets don't know how to forgive and forget do they? Here they have a chance to help a Great American become the next President of the United States, and how do they respond? Bitch, bitch, bitch. I find the timing to be very curious and I also have no doubt they are just George Bush hacks or mind-mumbed robots who insist on telling the truth no matter who it hurts.
Details, please. Theatrical release? Pre-election release?
Kerry is very popular among the Communist Vietnamese. Not only is his photo heralded mightily in their country's propaganda museums, Kerry's treason against the U.S. has -- for all intents and purposes -- made him a national hero there.
All the more reason never to trust him here.
A-MEN. The other man on H&C accused Kerry of treason because he was still in the reserves while spouting anti-American propaganda. Colmes was spitting all over himself.
Bob Dole is again going the extra mile for his country. I pray that Sen. Dole's clout is enough to finally sink this utterly dishonest (on so many levels) campaign.
Ping for what should be a major press conference. I don't think they'll be able to ignore Bob Dole, bless him!
Have they booked this documentary into theaters? How is the public going to see it?
I surfed over to http://www.stolenhonor.com where I pre-ordered a DVD ... I'm going back to order 6 more.
The same way they will see "Michael & Me" and "Michael Moore Hates America"--by spamming DVDs for sale across the country.
Please let us know if you find out what time the news conference is today?
This REAL DOCUMENTARY should be on the Discovery Channel???
If only Dole had these kind of cajones back in 96.
If Kerry ever had a chance to win...he should have shut up about Vietnam right at the beginning of the Demo convention. This subject is killing his campaign and by the time that Dole and his video comes out...this will wrap up the mid-west states. Any guy who ever served...will be forced to admit that Kerry isn't the right guy for president. I can't believe that his staff has allowed this Vietnam issue and the GW guard issue to continue on. If he wanted a chance to win...he oughta talk economics or Iraq...which he simply isn't doing. Its like Hillery and Bill are ensuring his defeat totally.
