No doubt...I've many family members who are members of the UAW (actually CAW but same thing different flavor) and other unions who would never do anything like this. But I've also seen Detroit Teamsters show up on busses in Toronto for public service strikes, and they aren't folks you want to argue with if they're blocking an entrance or whatever. And they can be really nasty, and yes I've seen it.

Never fair to paint with a broad brush, I know, but the leadership of the movements drag their members through the dirt they disturb.

I can imagine. Our union leans democrat locally, because they control the money and the republican candidates have no prayer of winning. I was happy to hear that the Sergeants Benevolent Association endorsed the president this year, and I hope the Police Benevolent Association goes the same way. Either way, guys are going to vote for Bush from what I've seen.

I've been to a few union-related demonstrations, and the best advice I got was "Their jobs are their lives so be on the ball". Basically, you have to exercise a lot of caution when you're mixed up in something that diresctly affects someone's family.
