A few years ago,an idiot tourist knocked me down,as I was crossing the street and two of New York's finest rushed over to me,helped me up off the pavement,and wanted to take me to the hospital.I declined,but they were really great...collecting my packages and looking after me. :-)
I grew up the same way, which is one big reason why I'm here now I guess..LOL. Whenever you get 30-40,000 people together there are always going to be people that shouldn't be a part of it all, whether its for corruption or cowardice. While the latter is obviously more of a concern to me regarding my own personal safety, I'm happy to see how much progress has been made towards making the department more professional in all aspects. "Serpico" was on the other night, and I just couldn't imagine the things I saw. I'm sure somewhere in the department there is some scam going on, but I haven't seen anything I would be ashamed of whatsoever.
I'll tell you one thing, I have been both scared and amused to degrees I never imagined and praised like a saint one minute while getting cursed like the devil himself the next.
